SW Missouri & NW Arkansas Ice Storm - 01/29/09 03:12 PM
The ice storm came in quickly and with vengeance on Monday evening. Many areas received up to 3/4 inch (possibly more) of ice from Monday evening through Thursday night. Personally, I still cannot leave my home. Actually, I can probably get out, just not back in. Our family has been very lucky in this situation. Our power has remained on. As of today there are still 314,000+ without electricity. That is a small city! They are hoping to have all the power on within 3 weeks. That is a long time to go without electricity. The temperatures have not been above freezing either. … (0 comments)

Blackberry....Crackberry - 01/29/09 02:39 PM

I have to say, I love my Blackberry!! This little tool has helped me so much with my business. I never miss an email, can access the MLSany time, access Google maps, organize my day, week, month...life with the calendar and not to mention talk on it too! I love that when I am on vacation, my emails still come through and I can communicate with clients. I always take my laptop along too, but my Blackberry is much easier to carry in my hip pocket or purse. I have managed to get several clients due to my BB as well. Several … (15 comments)

Show Ready - 01/29/09 02:21 PM
There are a few simple things sellers can do to have their home show ready. Sometimes a seller just needs a new set of eyes to give them a fresh perspective.
One thing sellers can do is rearrange the furniture. This can give a fresh new look to a room.
A good scrubbing can make a difference as well. Bleaching grout, carpet cleaning, etc can make a world of difference.
Of course fresh paint is a great way to give a new look to a room(s). Make sure they are neutral colors though. Bright or dark colors can turn a buyer … (0 comments)

Do Your Homework Before Hiring A Home Inspector - 01/23/09 10:40 AM
In the state of MO a home inspector is not required to be licensed or certified. The job of a home inspector is to find defects in the home. A seller may not always be required to disclose issues a home is having if they have never lived in the home. This is another reason to be sure that you have a good and thorough inspector.
Although, a license or certification is just that, a piece of paper. It does not necessarily mean they can perform the job properly. It simply means that they a basic knowledge. Having a license does … (1 comments)

Tax Help for First Time Home Buyers - 01/20/09 03:41 PM
This is great news! First time home buyers who purchased a home after April 9, 2008 qualify for a credit for 10 percent of their mortgage, up to $7500.00. In addition, this year you can deduct what you paid in real estate taxes and you don't have to itemize like in previous years. Don't be fooled though. The $7500 credit does have to be paid back without interest over the next 15 years. It is basically an interest free loan. So is it helpful or not? I'm not sure.
This information pertains to  southwest Missouri and northern Arkansas residents. You're also eligible for a whole list of … (0 comments)
