portland agents: Generation Y - 03/08/11 07:17 AM
One of the things that builders are learning about Generation Y (Millennials), is that they do not want the same home they're parents had.  There are many home options that are falling out of favor, things like formal living rooms, soaker tubs, and dependence on their cars.In fact, 1/3rd are willing to pay for the ability to walk everywhere.
Another thing that is out is cookie-cutter developments.  A whole neighborhood of the same house is not attractive anymore.
Outdoor space is still important but Millennials are not looking for acres of land.  It would actually be preferable to not have to … (1 comments)

portland agents: Little Big Burger - 02/24/11 08:58 AM
I finally got to try this burger place I've been hearing about and boy am I glad I did.  I found the food to truly live up to the rumors I had been hearing.  Of course it was a really good sign to show up to a packed restaurant.
I normally like to have plenty of choices but I really enjoy the simplicity of the menu at Little Big Burger.  To begin with, I find a burger is automatically better when made with a brioche bun.  I was also pleased with the smaller size.  This makes these burgers perfect for snacks … (1 comments)

portland agents: Plastic Bag Resolution - 08/04/10 11:31 AM
Portland, Oregon city council is demanding a ban on single-use plastic bags at the grocery store.  So much so that they passed a city resolution Wednesday stating that Portland will ban plastic bags sometime in the future if state lawmakers fail to pass a statewide ban next year.  A city resolution doesn't do anything but put votes on the record, it carries no legal weight.  Mayor Sam Adams has been trying get this passed for years but wants to give the whole state a chance to enact the ban which would be better than just Portland.  State Senator Mark Hass and … (1 comments)

portland agents: Lower Rate of Childhood Obesity - 07/21/10 11:55 AM
From 2003 to 2007 Oregon has come up as having the lowest rate of childhood obesity of any other state in the country.  Unfortunately ALL states need to do something about it's overweight children.  Some will have more trouble than others because of factors like poverty and race have complicated effects on obesity.
Oregon has made some changes in recent years including school nutrition standards and availability of nutritional information from fast food restaurants.  Because this was recent it obviously isn't the reason for the good score but it does demonstrate an Oregon mentality.
