Is Homeownership a Good Way to Build Wealth? - 07/24/09 11:58 AM
According to the National Association of Realtors, home values appreciate 4.5 percent annually on average. The more cash you put down on your home, the higher the return on your investment as you are paying less interest over the life of your mortgage. Homeownership really is a great way to build wealth as your home appreciates moderately each year, allowing you to sell your home at an increased profit with each year that passes. It is possible to lose money on short term purchases but typically home prices rise for long term homeowners.

Why Should I Buy a House Now? - 07/24/09 11:52 AM
There are many factors to consider when deciding to purchase a home. Here are a few reasons why now is a good time to take the plunge into homeownership.
1. Due to the number of homes on the market, prices are lower than recent years allowing you to get more home for your money.
2. The number of homes on the market also makes it extremly likely you will find something you like without settling.
3. First time homebuyers are eligible for a tax credit up to $8,000 through the end of November.

How Do I Determine Where Prices are Going? - 07/24/09 11:40 AM
This is a tough question to answer but here is a good place to start One thing to consider is the months' supply of inventory of homes currently on the market. In the past, a normal market had five to six months of inventory on the market. When there was less inventory on the market, prices rose as buyers competed more often for the home they wanted. As the home inventory has grown recently, prices have dropped as sellers have tried to help their home stand out from the crowd.

Why are Home Prices Dropping? - 07/24/09 11:35 AM
From 1980-2000, home prices appreciated an average of 26.5 percent across the country. That figure skyrocketed to 89 percent appreciation between 2000-2006. Because of the unsustainable growth that occurred during the first six years of the decade, home prices are now balancing out. Though prices are currently declining, the end result will be a healthier market for the future.

Selling your home quickly - 07/03/09 09:15 AM
Cut the asking price to 10 percent to 15 percent below what comparable properties in the neighborhood are selling for. Spruce up the outside. Update the landscaping. Power-wash the exterior and paint the door. Appeal to first-time buyers. Advertise on younger consumers' favorite Web sites, such as Facebook and Twitter. Hire a photographer to shoot the house with a wide-angle lens so the rooms look bigger in online photos. Price the house in the lower end of the range. A $299,000 house is in the high end of the $250,000 to $300,000 range but a $301,000 home is in the low-end … (1 comments)

Housing Market to Rebound in 2012? - 07/03/09 09:10 AM
Are you tired of the housing market leading the news every night? Economists seem to think 2012 may bring stability to the housing market. Inventory of homes should be at a more normal level and prices should be stable again. Homewoners may finally start to breath a sigh of relief within the next year. Prices probably have a little further to fall before they start to rise slowly. If all of these predictions do come true, what will the news anchors talk about then?
