It's not too late to sign up your kids for the Greensboro Library Summer Reading Program. This free program encourages children to read all summer long with prizes and fun activities. Just for signing up, my kids received coupons for a free kids meal at Moe's, a free ice cream at Chick-Fil-A and discounts for bowling at Triad Lanes! Getting signed up is easy as A-B-C! Visit the Central Library or any of the six branches and receive a reading log. It is steeped in history and is very convenient located in the heart of Greensboro. Blandwood Mansion, a National Historic Landmark, was built in 1795, which is before Greensboro was even founded. Blandwood Mansion is named after Charles Bland, its first owner. It was subsequently owned by John Motley Morehead, North Carolina's govenor from 1841-1845. Looking for something new to do with the kids this summer? Check out the new Edible Schoolyard at the Greensboro Children's Museum located in downtown Greensboro, NC. This is the first children's museum in the entire country to have an officially licensed Edible Schoolyard. An Edible Schoolyard is an idea started in California to create a teaching garden and kitchen where children can experience how foods are grown and create healthy meals and snacks from foods collected from the garden. Many stores in Greensboro are offering sales on appliances to generate even more savings! The NC Rebate Program offers rebates on energy-efficient replacement refrigerators, dishwashers, hot water heaters, central air conditioners and more. Please review the complete list of eligible appliances. The amount of rebate varies from $75 to $300, depending on the appliance purchased.
