Some people in my industry don't get it... RESPA is real! - 01/30/10 12:09 PM
I was recently sitting in a room full of Realtors and I heard something that shocked me! A mortgage professional in Elk Grove, Ca. stood up and made an announcement that whoever sent them the most mortgage client leads for the month would win a trip to a cabin for the weekend. I kinda just sat there and waited for others to react... but no one really did.
You see... it is this little thing called RESPA. I can not offer Realtors any type of compensation for sending us a client. Maybe noone reacted because they were Realtors and they are used to … (8 comments)

I am reminded this week why we do what we do! We just go another gift certificate from our Sacramento mortgage client for Palermo Restaurant in Elk Grove.
I can't tell you how nice it was to open this card!
In this market, sometimes no matter how hard you try, you can't always provide a smooth transaction for the client because of our crazy lending environment... It is so nice to be … (0 comments)

HUD announced a temporary policy that will lift the 90 day seasoning rule! Now we are talking! - 01/17/10 08:36 PM
In an effort to stabilize home values and improve conditions in communities where foreclosure activity is high, HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan last Friday announced a temporary policy that will expand access to FHA mortgage insurance and allow a quicker resale of foreclosed properties.
FHA currently requires the seller to own (must be on the title) a Sacramento property for a minimum of 90 days before they can sell it to a buyer using FHA financing. Sacramento bank owned property is exempt from this rule....until now!
HUD will lift this restriction for one year beginning on February 1, 2010!
This lift of the 90 day seasoning rule will permit buyers … (0 comments)

HUD announces 120-day Retraint for enforcement of the new Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA)... but will it save my paycheck? I recently wrote a post about the new 2010 Good Faith Estimate form. Looks like the powers that be are going to give everyone a break while we get this mess straightened out.

Spay Day Elk Grove 2010 is on February 28th - Is your Elk Grove pet neutered?
On February 28, nearly 1,000 pets belonging to families in need in Elk Grove, Sacramento, Yolo and Placer Counties will receive low-cost spay/neuter surgery.
Households in Sacramento, Yolo and Placer Counties earning $35,000 a year or less can get their pet neutered at a extremely cost effect price. Cats cost $15 and dogs cost $20! I called my local Elk Grove veterinarian... Bradshaw Vet and they said the normal cost was around $195 for a dog and $121 for a cat. So that is a significant … (1 comments)

Check out this video testimonial from our Sacramento Mortgage clients... they make this job worth doing! - 01/08/10 04:53 PM
I am not going to lie... Sometimes being a Sacramento Mortgage Planner feels like you are working in a battle zone.
We go head-to head daily with mortgage underwriters, sometimes underwriting supervisors, whole sale regional managers, and occasionally a Sacramento real estate agent.
Needless to say those still left in the Sacramento mortgage business love what they do... believe me! Our clients don't know half of the daily battles we go through to get their Sacramento mortgages approved and closed.
I can't tell you how much it means to us to get feedback like this from our clients! Their feedback makes every battle worth it! … (4 comments)

Why do Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac executives get enormous bonuses? - 01/07/10 08:11 PM
I found this blog very interesting! In my book bonuses are supposed to be paid based on performance.... I guess that is just me!
Fannie Mae stock prices in July of 2009 (right before the Government took over)were running around $10-13 a share... Today they are at $1.16...
Do I need to say more?

Via Will Nesbitt - condos / real estate in Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax County (Condo 1 Alexandria / Will Nesbitt Realty LLC):
Can anyone please tell me why we are paying the executives at Fanne Mae and Freddie Mac giant bonuses?
According to Business Week, "Fannie Mae Chief Executive … (2 comments)
