The second half must be paid before April 1. On April 1, penalty and interest charges begin accumulating on unpaid tax bills. Oklahoma Taxpayers paid their first half of property taxes December 31st. The 2nd half is due now.

Beginning in June, all City of Edmond utility customers will receive a new, larger capacity recycling cart. The new recycling cart has a 95-gallon capacity and comes with a lid and wheels for convenient moving. Another benefit is that more materials can be placed in the new cart, including cardboard, which is not accepted in the current 18-gallon bins.

Courtney and Rachel took time off from their busy schedules to have a little fun last weekend. Those two just can’t get away from houses, and helped out Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity on their Los Rosa site. They hammered the day away framing up sides of the home, attached siding and it went so well, by the end of the day the roof trust was put on.
As you can tell, there was many hands helping build this home.

As you know, Edmond has been in quite a sever drought for quite some time, and unfortunately, because of the drought, many trees are dying. Like last year, the City of Edmond's Urban Forestry Department is looking for partners to "Foster-A-Tree".
"Due to the current ongoing drought, Edmond’s urban forest has been impacted by the loss of many trees. The Foster-A-Tree program is a great way to replace trees that died or were removed as a result of these conditions.

A few days ago, the Edmond Sun had an article on the growth of the schools in Edmond. It really is amazing how large our great school system is and how well it scored!!
Just in October 1, 2012, the total student population of Edmond Schools was 22,501 students – 505 more than last year.

According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s latest statistics, Edmond is ranked as one of the safest cities in the nation and the safest city in Oklahoma with a population of more than 75,000.
