referrals: Unable to report a bad referral as SPAM... What's the deal? - 03/23/17 12:14 PM
As I often do on ActiveRain, I take a look each week or so at the referrals to see if there are any that are available in our area.
Sure enough, there was one new one, just outside of our area, but I figured I'd look at it to see what it is. What is it?  Not a real referral!  It's put up by Estately.com.  They are trying to SELL you leads.  These are NOT referrals!!!

This week while working the front desk at the office, a couple came in who grew up in the area, but have been living out of state for several years and were here visiting family.   They are both agents in the state they live in now.  When they came into the office, they had a box of cookies and a handful of calendars promoting their agency.  They said: "Lots of people from New Jersey are moving to our area, so if you have any referrals, please send them our way."  They were in and out of the office in less … (30 comments)

referrals: Good Referral, Bad Referral!!! - 08/04/14 11:47 PM
How do you handle referrals?
One of our referral partners, Joe, gave us the name of a seller in Union County a few months ago.
After meeting with the seller and previewing the home, we made our presentation.  During our discussions, we found out that the seller also had a home in another state that he wanted to sell.  We referred the seller to a good agent in West Virginia to sell his home there.
We contacted an agent through our company's referral service, Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, and were put in touch with Bob who is an … (5 comments)

Do you need an elevator speech? Probably, if you ever encounter people who might be potential clients or referrals. Here are four steps to creating the perfect elevator speech:
1. Set a timer for 10 minutes and spend that time brainstorming phrases or key words that describe how you help people. Write them down.
