Then I met Marcie.Marcie Parker is a professional photographer who operates her own photography studio in Wylie, TX. Gallery Moments Photography became a real-life dream for Marcie after she had paid her dues in the world of corporate photography. With her own studio, Marcie finds the freedom she needs to fully express her photography skills with her clients.A recent visit to Gallery Moments proved to be refreshingly fun as Marcie … (8 comments)

I’ve Seen Fire and I’ve Seen Rain | Murphy TX In the words of James Taylor “I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen rain” only I am not singing. In the late morning hour today a scattered shower came through Murphy dropping a lot of rain. It passed through about as quickly as it came leaving in a blaze. One of Murphy’s homes on High Point was struck by lightning. Murphy Fire Department responded quickly and was able to get the blaze under control. Needless to say this is not one family’s high point of the day. But it should serve as … (7 comments)

It appears that the brunt of the storm came rolling across Murphy at the the intersection of FM544 and Murphy Rd. The parking lot particularly at this time of the year is visited by many birds migrating south. The winds were so strong that … (6 comments)

Rural Murphy - Wordless Wednesday

Signs of the rural living that once populated Murphy Texas are still found in various locations within the city. The three goats grazing peacefully were found at the corner of S. Maxwell Creek and Kinney Dr. They were unfazed by the local traffic on FM544.

UnPredictable Weekend  |  City of Plano  |  September 18, 2011The thunderstorms moving into our area this evening was one more for the weekend. Rain, although much needed and appreciated, played havoc on the Plano Balloon Festival. Neither Saturday nor Sunday morning were the balloons given the okay to lift off. I didn’t attend but Sunday afternoon was good weather for a visit to the festival grounds only the balloons were missing. Tomorrow plans will begin for next year’s festival and I’ll be eagerly anticipating them once again.Even the first Nascar race for the chase in Chicago was delayed due to rain. … (8 comments)

Up, Up and Away Over the Skies of the Plano Balloon FestivalThe 2011 Plano Balloon Festival gets underway Friday, September 16th through Sunday, September 18th. Come see the colorful array of the hot air balloons floating gracefully across the Plano sky. Or watch the balloon fly-in competition where pilots compete by dropping a bean bag on a designated target at the festival grounds. The pilot closest to their target wins that competition. I like to hang around until dusk and see the evening glow where the participating balloons will light up the evening sky. If you are an early morning person … (10 comments)
