Molehills Can Look Like Mountains on Minnesota Acreage! - 03/31/11 05:04 PM
Ever hear the saying, "You are making a mountain out of a molehill?" It is used when someone is making a big deal out of trivial issue. BUT if you are trying to sell your home and a mole make a hill in your yard, it's not so trivial! Especially if you have spent thousands on landscaping for your property. Their destructive activity could cause concern to any lawn-loving Minnesotan and potential homebuyer.
Pocket gophers, along with their little mole friends, are the bane of the countryside. These small little rodents cause serious damage to lawns and landscaping across Anoka County. … (2 comments)

Top 10 Reasons People L♥VE to Call OAKDALE, Minnesota HOME! - 03/31/11 04:31 PM
Oakdale, Minnesota has its roots in agriculture, railroads and resorts. Early settlers to the area in the 1800’s chose the name for the groves of trees that enhanced the landscape. It started as a township organized in the 1850’s but it was over a century before Oakdale became a city. At one point Hudson Road at the south end of the city was an established stagecoach route to Chicago. Two railroads stations were an important part of putting Oakdale on the map. Lake Demontreville was once a popular summer home area for wealthy city dwellers, though it was once a part … (2 comments)

Awesome Prices on Minnesota Lakeshore Continue into 2011! - 03/27/11 11:00 AM
People often dream of living on Minnesota lakeshore. In the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, many would-be lake home owners gave up the dream as prices skyrocketed on lakeshore. The lakehome dream had become out of reach for the average home buyer. As prices shot up in the late 1990’s. (lake lots on Coon Lake in Anoka County that sold in 1998 for $60,000 and were re-sold three years later for over three times higher), the average person couldn’t afford to live on the lake anymore. Just a decade ago, there didn’t seem to be an end in sight to what … (9 comments)

Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Hungry Squirrel in Ham Lake! - 03/23/11 05:42 PM

After this particularly brutal winter in Anoka County, we felt a bit sorry for the squirrels living on our Ham Lake acreage. Even with several large oaks in our yard, the acorns were tough to dig out after several inches of snow. Our cat enjoys watching them play from the window so we set out food to attract them. Luckily, only the gray squirrels found it as the red ones have been known to eat cedar so we don't really want them on our front porch.

Year End 2010 Snapshot of White Bear Lake, MN Home Sales Statistics - 03/03/11 04:29 PM
White Bear Lake saw a huge drop in the amount of closed sales in 2010 compared to 2009 but the good news is the average sales price is up a bit. In this northern Ramsey County city, home sales dropped just over 26%! Inventory levels could be on the rise as the percentage of new listings was quite a bit less (5.5%) and so there is abundant inventory in 2010.
