Scam Alert--Grant Deed for Sale Letters Hit Homebuyers Mailboxes! - 03/31/12 02:53 PM
Does a Homeowner need copy of Grant Deed?   A client sent me an email earlier this week from regarding a letter that arrived in their mailbox that day. Sherry and her fiancé had bought an Anoka County house late last year . This letter strongly suggested it was important to purchase a copy of their grant deed for their records. My well-educated clients were confused by the strange  wording in the letter. They began to question their instincts…Did they need this “grant deed and property file” as the Record and Retrieval Company of Champlin was suggesting?   The short answer … (51 comments)

Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--A Peep Anyone Would Love! - 03/21/12 04:45 PM

Love em or hate em...Everyone has an opinion on Peeps! In my opinion they are barely edible but I have one son that loves them! We visited Mall of America in Bloomington this weekend and they have a new store devoted to the Peep. It's not just a candy store either...though there are Peeps and every flavor of Mike and Ike you can imagine! They also have socks, t-shirts and assorted Peep related gifts. I do have to admit, I kind of like the glowing giant Peep at the center of the store.

Looking for a foreclosure, bank-owned or short sale on lakeshore in the north east Minneapolis/St Paul metro area?   Not all lakehome foreclosures are handyman specials requiring extensive rehab work. Today's lakehome foreclosures can be AWESOME--Inside and out! This economy forced responsible homeowners to let amazing properties go back to the bank. Many are still in very good condition...some might need some work or rehab financing. There are bank-owned, lakeshore homes on the market that may require a bit of cleanup or a few cosmetic changes but there some are in move-in, MINT condition too. Here are a few of the … (4 comments)

Curb Appeal Tips to Sell Minnesota Home Fast Inventory is down in the Minneapolis/St. Paul north and east metro but what will happen come spring? Irish Eyes will be Smiling in Minnesota on St. Patrick’s Day! - 03/11/12 06:36 AM
St Patrick's Day Events St. Paul Minneapolis March 17th an official holiday is a semi-official holiday in Minnesota! Growing up as a Irish-woman in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area made St. Patrick's Day a fun event. (Okay...I'm only a quarter Irish but on St. Pat's day, whose counting?) From time to time our family attended the parade on the east side of the river in downtown St Paul. One time we even jumped into the parade and strolled down the street under the “Flaherty”banner.  There were meals of home cooked corned beef and cabbage, though I much prefer a Shamrock Shake. We … (9 comments)

First Time Homebuyer Word Truth in Housing   In a past episode of Cash Cab, an Emmy award winning television game show, a taxi full of contestants with stumped by the acronym, FSBO. As a REALTOR® in the Minneapolis/St. Paul north and east metro, I was a bit surprised “For Sale By Owner” eluded them. Home Ownership Still Trumps Apartment Life—Especially IF there's a Spot for Grandma! - 03/01/12 12:02 PM
Homebuyers for Multigenerational Acreage Homes   When I started selling real estate over a decade ago, one of my very first clients was a family: mom, dad, two daughters, three horse AND a grandma! My goal as a REALTOR® was to find a home on acreage that accommodates horses within the Forest Lake School District that had a mother-in-law apartment for grandma. There weren’t too many options at the time. Sure the market was overloaded with McMansions on small lots but few homes were designed to accommodate a multigenerational family with horses. We did eventurally find a Scandia home that would … (3 comments)
