minnesota state fair: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Welcome to Minnesota! - 02/01/12 07:11 AM

It's February 1st in Minnesota! So maybe you were expecting photo covered in snow and ice. Well, this winter has been so extremely mild, I figured I'd share a summer photo from the Train/Maroon 5 concert that was held in September at the Minnesota State Fair. Maybe I should be embracing the Winter Carnival events of this week rather than a summer event...but the ice sculptures have melted.
Anyone considering a relocation to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area but are afraid of Minnesota winters can rest assured that we often have some nice warm above freezing days in the dead … (5 comments)

minnesota state fair: Baby Sucks Lemons at the Minnesota State Fair! - 08/26/10 05:02 AM

Did you feel it when you woke up this morning? That tingling of anticipation? That unmistakable rush of excitement when you heard that the gates opened at 6 AM this morning? If you did, you are undoubtedly a Minnesotan! Yep the cars and people started streaming onto the streets of the MN State Fair at the crack of dawn this morning. All the TV news programs were there showing what we could expect new in the line of food on a stick…or heart attack on a paper tray if you saw the chicken-fried bacon strips and deep-fried bologna. (But don’t … (8 comments)

minnesota state fair: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Flying Cow? Only at the Minnesota State Fair - 08/11/10 02:19 AM

After so many comments on the police or sheriff cable car from my previous Speechless Sunday post, I figured that many would enjoy a seeing the cow painted cable car too! For the record, most cars are just plain solid colors but there are a few that are "pimped" out!

minnesota state fair: Speechless Sunday (Almost)--Above the Crowd at the MN State Fair! - 08/08/10 10:58 AM

RE/MAX real estate professionals are known to go above the crowd...usually in the famous red and white balloon. (Okay, if you want to see the balloon pictures I took in White Bear Lake last year, click here.) But I took the opportunity to take a quick trip above the crowd on the Skyride, one of the permanent fixtures at the Minnesota State Fair, last summer. Quite a view that shouldn't be missed if you are going to the fair this summer!

minnesota state fair: Wordless Wednesday (Almost)--Minneapolis Skyline from Across the Minnesota State Fair! - 08/04/10 10:01 AM

Many of the most spectacular things to do and see at the Minnesota State Fair are completely FREE! If you are heading for the state fair this year, don't miss the view from high above it all. It is worth the wait and the climb up the narrow stairs in the DNR tower for this breathtaking view of the Minneapolis skyline!

minnesota state fair: Wordless Wednesday--Fair View of Minneapolis Skyline - 10/14/09 09:42 AM

For the first time in many years the Department of Natural Resources opened the tower at the Minnesota state fair so fairgoers could have a view of the Twin Cities from several directions at 65 feet above the earth. Only downside to the view was you had to climb up and down the stairs. But what a view of downtown Minneapolis!

minnesota state fair: MN State Fair Photos--The Great Minnesota Get Together is Almost Ready! Are YOU? - 08/14/08 02:39 AM
It's Coming! We are just a week away from the GREAT Minnesota get together...better known as the Minnesota State Fair! Preparations for this fabulous event were well underway early this week. Though it looks a bit of a ghost town as of Monday when I dropped off a few entries at the education building, there were signs of the frantic activity soon to come.

Trailers were parked strategically near displays and buildings still without signage.
Crews of hard working men were pulling up tents and working on other displays.

Though only a solitary piece of red farm equipment adorned Machinery Hill, … (16 comments)

minnesota state fair: Goodbye MN State Fair! Hello Forest Lake Schools! - 09/14/07 12:35 AM

September always means one thing in the Forest Lake school district: Back to School. Summer fun and events are over and a new school year begins. As soon as the final About a Foot Long Hotdog and Sweet Martha's Cookie is sold at the Minnesota State Fair and the final blue ribbon awarded, the school bells ring and new opportunities begin.
Memories of the 12-day extravaganza that is the Minnesota State Fair have yet to fade. The corn dogs and milkshakes were tasty as usual and the space needle was awesome. One could see the whole Twin Cities from the top … (18 comments)
