Making a move from the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro to a more rural area is a dream of many city home owners. But the actual logistics of this type of move can seem overwhelming. As a REALTOR® in the north and east metro, I know there are less amenities and public utilities in country communities; many of which are often taken for granted by urban residents. When my family made our move out to Anoka County acreage, we had to learn this differences first hand and quickly. I have guided many homebuyers over the years and there are many common (2 comments)
washington county realtor: Haunted House in Forest Lake, MN? Or Just a Nightmare on Jason Street?
- 10/14/10 10:33 AM
As a REALTOR® I know a Minnesota does not have to disclose paranormal activity when selling their home but this is one haunted house I wanted to share with everyone in the north and east Twin Cities metro. Paranormal activity runs rampant at this house just north of the lake, but this haunting is only once a year and is all in good fun! Last Halloween, I had the chance to visit this fantastic (and FREE) haunted house in Washington County just off of North Shore Trail. Chris Costello has set up his home on Jason St., in Forest Lake, MN (11 comments)

washington county realtor: Lakeshore Foreclosures Available in Anoka, Ramsey or Washington County
- 02/27/10 12:46 PM
In Minnesota, Land of 10,000 Lakes…well 12,000 actually, there are bound to be one or two lakeshore owners who have had a tough time in this economic downturn right? I did a search today* for lakeshore homes that are currently bank-owned or listed as a foreclosure and found five current listings for lakehomes in either Anoka County, Ramsey County or Washington County. This number is down considerably from this time last year where there were nearly a half dozen bank-owned lakeshore properties in each of the three counties. Buyers wanting to snatch up a great deal need to act quickly. Priced (4 comments)
washington county realtor: Deciding Whether a Home on a Minnesota Wetland or Environmental Lakeshore is Right for YOU!
- 02/25/10 12:13 AM
As a REALTOR® who sells homes on acreage in Anoka, Chisago and northern Washington Counties, I am often asked whether the land is dry or wet. In this area, depending on what you plan to use the land for, this is a very important question. Many people think purchasing a home on a Minnesota wetland is ideal others wonder whether buying a home with environmental lakeshore would be a huge mistake.I find this question very interesting. In the areas where I focus my business, there are areas with an abundance of wetland and lakeshore homes. From Hugo to Wyoming and throughout (4 comments)
washington county realtor: White Bear Lake MN Real Estate Market Statistics Year End 2009
- 01/06/10 07:09 AM
Just about everyone who grew up in the Twin Cities north metro is familiar with the White Bear Lake community. Whether your memories are of passing the iconic gigantic white bear statue at Polar Chev, swimming at Bellaire beach or setting sail across White Bear Lake, everyone seems to know the area. But few know the legends that surround the lake and that Manitou Island is at the center of it all. The legend has been documented by several writers but the most notable was Mark Twain who wrote of the Indian warrior who killed the great monster of a polar (3 comments)
Forest Lake, Minnesota is well known throughout the Twin Cities area. Many people from the city remember the northeast St. Paul suburb fondly from years gone by as a summer vacation spot, an annual ice fishing tournament tradition or as a destination when going for a Sunday a drive in the country. Today, the lakeside cabins have been replaced with year round residences, the fishing tourney is but a memory and the farms are few and far between in this third ring St. Paul suburb. The northern Washington County and east Anoka County community of Forest Lake is now considered (2 comments)
washington county realtor: Attn Lakeshore Homebuyers! Late Summer Values on Washington County Minnesota Lakes!
- 08/14/09 02:34 AM
Are Minnesota lakeshore owners hoping the real estate market has turned a corner? Maybe. Or is it just a mid-summer night's dream for lakeshore owners?I noticed an interesting phenomenon in early July that is continuing into August. Lakeshore homes that traditionally list as soon as the ice drops in April were being listed after Independence Day in July. And it was not just the usual handful of slowpokes that added a late summer listing...several lake properties listed in Washington County after July 1st. These are not relisted homes either...You know the ones that are cancelled so they "look new on the (6 comments)
washington county realtor: Ice Out is Almost Here—Lake Ice is NOT Safe in the North Metro!
- 03/17/09 02:33 AM
It seems like only yesterday when Forest Lake was full of cars, trucks and ice houses all attempting to catch a fish or two on a beautiful winter day. This photo was taken in February when the ice was four feet thick. Ice houses had to be removed a couple of weeks ago but with our below zero temperatures just last week, people were still venturing out on the lakes in their cars thinking the ice was safe. Since spring has almost sprung in the last few days, the 60 degree weather has made the ice very unstable. A car sunk (12 comments)

washington county realtor: Defining Dreams—How a REALTOR® Helps Today's First Time Homebuyer
- 10/24/08 11:46 PM
It continues to be a tumultuous real estate market out there. For a first time buyer this can be quite intimidating. More than ever before buyers need to be educated as short sales, foreclosures and bank owned homes continue to be an increasing part of the real estate landscape throughout the Minneapolis/St. Paul's northern suburbs.
