Operation Purple camps offer a free week of summer fun for military kids with parents who have been, are currently, or will be deployed. These free week-long camps are provided through the generous support of Goldman Sachs Gives, the Sierra Club, and the Sierra Club Foundation.

$8,000 Military Homebuyers Tax Credit Getting Set To Expire - 03/07/11 11:47 AM
The $8,000 homebuyers tax credit for military members will expire on April 30, 2011. The settlement must occur before June 30, 2011. The tax credit was extended for mem­bers of the uni­formed ser­vices, mem­bers of the For­eign Ser­vice, and intel­li­gence com­mu­nity employ­ees who served at least 90 days of qual­i­fied, extended duty ser­vice out­side of the United States between Jan­u­ary 1, 2009 and April 30, 2010.

This has been around for a while but it probably an underused benefit for the military services. Free tutoring services are offered to military dependents by Tutor.com. This is an awesome and completely free program that can help tutor students in just about any subject that they need assistance in. The best part is this is not just for elementary or high school students, but for those who are taking introductory college course and adult learning classes as well.
