loblolly: Loblolly Pines = Danger for Yankees in Georgia!!!

When we bought our "own place in paradise" there were Loblolly Pines, all over the place. The Loblolly Pine is a tree that grows 100 feet or taller and is used for pulp wood and to build houses. Shortly after moving in we discovered that all of those pine trees were a big mess, so we removed about 80 of them since we moved in. It seems the trees are susceptible to a disease know as "Pine Bark Beetles" which destroy a tree in a couple of weeks and turn all of the pine needles brown. The beetles drill holes in the bark (2 comments)
