Members of the military who serve outside the U.S. for at least 90 days between December 31, 2008 and May 1, 2010 have a full extra year to buy a home and still qualify for the $8000, first-time home-buyer tax credit or the $6500 credit for home owners who have owned their primary residence for at least 5 years. For example, at a 28 percent tax rate: 12,577 x 0.28 = $3,521.56 $3,521.56 = Amount you have lowered your federal income tax (at 28 percent tax rate) Note: Mortgage (0 comments)

1. Have a pre-sale home inspection. Be proactive by arranging for a pre-sale home inspection. An inspector will be able to give you a good indication of the trouble areas that will stand out to potential buyers, and you'll be able to make repairs before open houses begin.
2. Organize and clean. Pare down clutter and pack up your least-used items, such as large blenders and other kitchen tools, out-of-season clothes, toys, and exercise equipment. Store items off-site or in boxes neatly arranged in (0 comments)
