eco-fi indoor/outdoor rugs from Costco - 05/22/09 04:42 PM
While  shopping at Costco last night, I came across these indoor/outdoor area rugs (6' x 9' for about $22).  Last year the rug I used was less than clean after the wet feet from the pool and sprinklers.  I decided to purchase 2 that seem better for the outdoors (mold resistant).
These rugs were made by ozite using eco-fi(TM), which is high-quality polyester fiber from 100% post-consumer recycled bottles.  According to the packaging, each rug saves 50+ bottles from landfills.
These are not the fanciest looking rugs, however they are perfect for under my sitting areas in the back yard.  They … (18 comments)

This Saturday in Clayton, the first Farmers Market of the season! - 05/06/09 05:27 PM
Don't forget the Clayton, California Saturday Farmers Market opens this Saturday, 5/9/09 at 9am and stays open until 1pm.
This is a great place to visit friends and neighbors and buy local produce.  In these economic times, it's good to support our community farmers as much as possible.
Hope to see you there!

Aren't you tired of hearing... - 05/05/09 02:38 AM
I just finished reading the blog post by Ed Rybczynski "Words you shouldn't use"http://activerain.com/blogsview/1061636/Words-that-you-shouldnt-use
As well as And/or Value added Net-net Out of pocket    were just some of the words and phrases that are overused and when overused loose their impact.  I totally agree. The interesting thing about overusing a phrase is that it becomes cliche' to the point of losing it's effectiveness with the client.  The death of the presentation is when they glaze over and have heard the phrase so many times that they just don't believe any of you can perform on what it says.
For example, the … (59 comments)

Clayton BookStore...amazing place to browse and get some history of Walnut Creek - 05/03/09 02:11 AM
Out in Clayton at the Clayton Valley Shopping Center, these type events are an everyday occurrence.  It is nothing to find a sports figure, children's author, children's story time, adult bookclub or other event at the bookstore.  Just like the old fashioned bookstore, it's a gathering place.  The staff and people are friendly and welcoming and we often take walks with the grandkids down to the bookstore to buy a book to further our reading efforts for the grandchildren.  It's refreshing and small town feeling.  We love our bookstore.  Tomorrow is this great event, hope you have time to stop by, … (2 comments)

The icing on the cake - Mary DeBella - 05/01/09 07:11 PM

At the CSP Convention last week I was happy to see Mary DeBella.  Mary and I worked on a very successful StagersLIST Expo in Portland last year and I truly enjoy her company.
In addition to being a long time friend, our staging friendship goes back probably 7-8 years.  Mary is one of the most organized and awesome event planners I know. When our table cloths for the convention arrived too big for the tables, Mary jumped right in and came up with a creative solution and saved the day. All without being asked, she just saw a need and … (8 comments)

The icing on the cake - Duncan Scott - 05/01/09 06:50 PM
Last week I attended the CSP Convention and was so happy to meet many of my favorite Active Rain friends in person!  This was a re-acquaint meeting with Duncan since we had met last year when training to be Live Green, Live Smart Instructors in Minneapolis.  I believe he's had the largest LGLS class to date.  YEAH Duncan.  And he's training for another role which I'm sure you'll all love hearing about sometime soon, right Duncan.  Secrets and surprizes, and Duncan is full of them.
What is most evident about Duncan is his boundless energy.  He is the consummate professional, an … (5 comments)

The icing on the cake - Jackson West - 05/01/09 06:33 PM
Not only was it a blast with inspirational, educational, phenomenal content at the CSP Convention, the icing on the cake was all the wonderful people I got to meet in person.
It's always interesting meeting people that you have met online.  You are excited, wondering if they will know who you are, wondering if you'll know who they are... yet when you walk in the room you recognize each other instantly.  The best part is that because you've read and commented on each other's blog posts you already feel like you know each other.
Last week when walking into the room … (7 comments)
