Grand Rapids Michigan ~ June 2009 Top Best Buy Homes - 06/22/09 10:28 AM
The Top Best Buy Blogs that we publish are based on price per square foot, which is one of the best ways to analyze a home for pricing. For example, if a subdivision has 14 homes for sale, and they are all relatively similar, the price per square foot should be close together. This doesn't always hold true but it is a great leveler in the home resale industry. Buyers should find out why they are being asked to pay $ 20-30-40 per square foot more for the home they are considering than neighboring homes. Does it have extensive remodeling, a (2 comments)

Living in Michigan on the East side we don't see usually see the sunrise over Lake Michigan. We are in the Chicago area today visiting family. When I saw the sun starting rise I grabbed my Flip and just had to share the image of the sunrise.

Four Kent County Michigan Schools on 2009 Top 1500 U.S. List - 06/15/09 09:58 PM
We all want our children to go to award-winning schools. These are the top high schools in the Grand Rapids area, by Newsweek ranking standards. Where you have top high schools, you have an educated workforce, and and typically higher real estate prices because people want to live where their children will get a great education. I was reading Bill Gassetts blog and thought I should also report on the top ranked schools in our area, especially since one of them is our children's alma mater, Forest Hills Central High School.

Happy Endings Can Happen to You, Too!~Active Rain Directly Responsible for Latest Sale - 06/15/09 02:42 PM
We recently received an email to show a home directly from Active Rain. This isn't so unusual but it was unusual that it was a listing we lost to another agent 6 months ago. It was a long story, we had it sold once but the buyer lost his job 3 days before closing. Anyway, the seller decided to try someone else, it is common in our industry and sometimes does the trick, especially if you lower the price!!!
The potential buyer told us she googled the listing address to see if she could find out more information. (8 comments)

This sounded like a great idea and after looking as his 401k, a smart use of what money he still had in his account. In Michigan the process to buy a HUD-owned home is similar to a number of states.
