- 04/03/09 04:05 AM
Is it difficult to go home? Ask the salmon that are attempting to reach their spawning grounds in the upper reaches of the Grand River. They have a Herculean task to get up the fish ladder at the Grand River downtown Grand Rapids. Joseph E Kinnebrew IV, designed the Fish Ladder Sculpture that allows the fish to climb the dam at Fourth Street and Front NW.
The Fish Ladder was installed in 1974 and is a favorite spot to watch the fish return up river in the fall. We have seen the fish so thick that the ducks can walk (6 comments)

- 11/06/08 11:10 AM
Robinette's Farm Market is a favorite Grand Rapids destination for families, shoppers, sippers, pie aficionados, hay ride enthusiasts, and just plain folks. We like to sample the wonderful home baked fruit pies, donuts, bear claws, and other bakery goods. And of course, the fresh apple cider. In fact, on weekends in season, you can see the old fashioned apple press at work. Located at the East Beltline at Four Mile Road in northeast Grand Rapids Township, Robinette's is a farm market that has diversified to anticipate their customers needs. grand rapids things to do: Cascade Public Library Cascade, Michigan ~ Visiting Sculpture Exhibit
- 08/12/08 08:59 AM
The Cascade Public Library in Cascade, MI has a wonderful Bronze Sculpture Exhibit going on in the library now through October. Everywhere you look, there is a fantastic sculpture to view. Some are small, some are large, all are interesting. Took the tour and snapped a few pictures so you could see this marvelous exhibit, too. Reading was a large part of the theme but not all were about enjoying a good book.
This joyful fellow greets you as you walk to the front desk.
Looks like someone has found a quiet spot to get a bit of reading in.

grand rapids things to do: Playing in the Treetops ~ Thousand Oaks Golf Course, Grand Rapids MI
- 08/08/08 05:32 AM
Once you have played this course, you understand why they named it "Thousand Oaks Golf Club". I had the chance to play this course the other day and leaped at the opportunity. What a treat! Located just a few minutes north of Grand Rapids at Five Mile near the Grand River, this course wraps around literally thousands of oak trees. Which makes for a gorgeous nature outing this time of year. Golf Digest rated this Rees Jones designed course one of the 25 best courses in Michigan. This course is quite deceptive. Because it fluctuates in elevation, you might need a few more strokes to (0 comments)
