Bellingham's Lowell Elementary school students participated in the Pennies for Peaceprogram for six weeks recently and raised a phenomenal amount of coins, $1,341.
Pennies for Peace is a national fund-raising organization that is helping students in Afghanistan and Pakistan obtain access to quality education. Pennies here in American don't have much value, but they do in other parts of the world, and Lowell kids have helped a lot of children in a far off part of the world.
The school-wide fund-raiser was organized by Hadley Frazier a fourth-grader .

I just became a soccer dad.
My son started playing soccer this week, his first practice was last night, and his first game is Saturday morning. This will be his first season with the WCYSA, or the Whatcom County of Soccer Association. The season runs from March 22 - May 10. They play at the Northwest soccer Park which is owned and operated by the Whatcom sports commission.

I feel so very fortunate to be living here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. It is a great environment. There is much to learn about the environment and our kids are fortunate enough to have some great educational resources
I went to a meeting at my sons school this week to inform parents about our 5th grader's trip to the Mountain School.

The average sales price is up 1.8% compared to last year, the median price went up 2.1% compared to last February. The average price is up 1.9% from January while the median is up 5.6% from January.
The number of sales is up by 19 compared to last year and days on market average is up a bit compared to last year, but median time on the market is a bit less.

The average sales price is down 18.2% compared to last year, the good news is the median price went up a respectable 5.5% compared to last February. The average price is down 16% from the January while the median is up 8.7% from January.
The number of sales is off by 3 compared to last year and days on market is up a bit compared to last year.

Looks like my predictions are coming to fruition, 3 of the Young Condominiums sold this past February bringing the averages up.
