Yes it's true, Bellingham has grown into a two bus station town. With the opening of its new Cordata Bus Station last week the Whatcom Transit Authority (WTA) now has two bus stations. The new Cordata Station will service the fast-growing Cordata neighborhood. With the growth of Whatcom Community College and the area in general, it seems like a natural place for the extension of the bus system. With lots of condos, apartments, and new homes in the area, the Cordata neighborhood is the fastest-growing Bellingham. The Legendary Banked Slalom - Snowboarding at Mt Baker - 02/06/09 07:36 PM
The Legendary Banked Slalom takes place Friday February 6 thru Sunday February 8 at the Mt Baker Ski Area. Mt. Baker has been a kind of Mecca for the snowboarding world ever since they first opened their chairs to snowboarders in the early'80s. The early boarders there started a contest. In 1985, 14 snowboarders raced on Superbowl Sunday to avoid the crowds, and a tradition was born. This year in it's 24th season, the Banked Slalom has become a celebration of the sport to locals and pros. Are you tired of those week long festivals that just seem to never end? If you are The Pacific Northwest Rain Festival maybe for you. It only lasts for one fun filled hour. It all happens so quickly at the Fairhaven Village Green this Saturday February 7, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Looks like bit might even rain! There will be rain poetry, a rain gear fashion show, even music about rain. It's all about the weather we love around here. There will even be prizes from some of Fairhaven's merchants. Google has done it again. It is upgrading its mobile maps to enable people with mobile phones or other wireless devices to share their whereabouts with family and friends. This new feature their calling 'Latitude' will add a social feature to google maps. Google is promising to avoid privacy concerns by promising not to retain uses information except for the last location and making it a voluntary program. Google says "See your friends on a map and get in touch" The system will be able to follow people traveling in the United States and 26 other countries. The users can decide (4 comments)
