There's a growing awareness among home sellers (and real estate agents) that the bar needs to be raised when it comes to online home listing photos.  Here's a good example of how using the right camera can put you miles ahead when it comes to online photos that make sellers happy.I personally like this example because the before shot is not all that bad - I took it with my old 35 mm camera, which is what I used to take all of my home photos with, and the house itself is newer, with high ceilings and an open floor plan.  … (3 comments)

The Value of a Good Buyer's Agent - Part 2 - 05/25/07 01:11 AM
A couple of points from my recent comment on Redfin's blog:The concept of not having a buyer's agent present at a home inspection (especially since it typically means having the listing agent there with the buyers instead) makes no sense to me.  There are so many things a buyer agent knows from years in the business that a buyer would have no reason to ever know, and that the listing agent has no motivation or obligation to point out.
Consider the value of the buyer's agent who explains to an unwary buyer that a $200 sewer scoping inspection can save them tens … (1 comments)

Only if you are committed to exercising and improving your health!  How many times does a new or struggling real estate agent hear those words of advice - you need to just start joining organizations so that you meet people - try a health club. 
The advice is well intended and good if further direction is provided - unfortunately it typically isn't.  Yes you need to get out there and meet people who might be potential clients - but if you want to be successful you need to be selective. 
You should join organizations that:

I've been amazed recently at the some of the discussions regarding discount real estate agent services, especially some of the back and forths in the comments section of the Redfin corporate blog.  For some reason I rarely see anyone make the point about what to me (a full-service real estate agent) makes up at least 50 percent of a buyer agent's value. 
OK, I've actually never seen anyone make this point, but I'm sure someone has, somewhere... 
People dwell a lot on how important the buyer agent's role is in helping people buy homes, but the fact is, half of a good buyer … (3 comments)
