real estate marketing: Check Out Mike Mueller’s Facebook Business Fan Page Service - 09/10/09 06:00 AM
From my Tools For Real Estate blog:
A Facebook business page (also known as a Facebook fan page) can be a great way to promote your real estate business, even taking the place of a standard website if you don't have one yet.  (Facebook business pages are free, versatile and easy for non-techies to edit and add content to.)
The problem is that 90% of agents who want to gear up on the social media scale end up never getting around to it.  If that sounds like you, I recommend checking out Mike Mueller's AreWeConnected site and possibly hiring him to set … (3 comments)

real estate marketing: Have You Tried Eyejot Videos for Real Estate Marketing? - 08/05/09 08:37 AM
From my Tools For Real Estate blog:

Eyejot is a cool real estate marketing tool that agents can use for sending short video messages via email.  My friend and colleague Greg Perry (a self-made techie and one of the first local agents to become a powerful blogger) pointed it out to me a few months ago, and I just noticed what a great job he did of branding himself on his Eyejot page.
Click the graphic on the left to see his profile on Eyejot, and I highly recommend checking out this video about the Home Buyer Tax Credit deadlinethat he is sending … (4 comments)

real estate marketing: Video: How to Get More Online Traffic to Your Real Estate Website Using Google Trends - 07/29/09 07:27 AM
From my Tools For Real Estate blog:
For your real estate marketing, you probably know that  you get more online traffic to your real estate website, blog, and social media pages when you use the same keywords in your page titles and text that people use in their online searches.  But... how do you know what keywords your prospective real estate clients are actually using?
(After all, our real estate prospects don't always think like we do!)
Well, Google Trends is a great free tool that helps you quickly choose the best keywords and keyword phrases.  Here's an example, using a screenshot I took when I was deciding … (8 comments)

(All of the above?)
Regardless of which category you fall into, here's what you need to know: Having a Facebook business page (also called a Facebook fan page) is a great way for you to market yourself online as a real estate agent. It's free, easy to set up, and easy to keep updated with content such as links to interesting articles, photos, and even videos.

real estate marketing: A Mortgage Refinance Guide for Your Real Estate Clients - 07/21/09 07:45 AM
From my Tools For Real Estate blog:
Are you getting questions about mortgage refinancing from your real estate clients?  I am, and I recently found a good consumer's guide to home loan refinancing by the Federal Reserve Board.  One of the reasons I like it is that it  seems to clearly explain some mortgage topics that people commonly get confused about, including:
Comparing home loan refinance options Understanding ‘no cost’ refinances Calculating when you recoup the expense of refinancing a mortgage Home mortgage prepayment penalties There’s also a glossary of home loan refinance terms that’s highly useful.
The pamphlet dates from … (4 comments)

real estate marketing: Great Yahoo report on how home buyers and sellers choose agents - 02/24/09 01:11 AM
There's a really interesting report on the Yahoo broker's page that gives some valuable information about how people find, research and choose agents, online and off.
Go to the Yahoo Broker page, and then it's the second report in the list at the bottom of the page, called "Online Engagement Influences Agent Selection Proces."  I think this is really useful info to know when considering how you're going to invest time and money into connecting with people, and what topics they are most concerned about.
I did a summary of this report on the Tools For Real Estate blog, so I … (6 comments)

real estate marketing: Jing: This awesome little screen recorder is a breeze to use (and free, for now anyway) - 08/19/07 01:34 PM
This morning I was reading John Jantsch's Duct Tape Marketing blog (by the way, this is an awesome blog if you want to get the early bird scoop on incredibly cool products.)  Case in point, he posted about the Jing Project, a free downloadable screen recorder from one of our favorite companies, Techsmith.(Techsmith makes the very affordable Snagit, which makes capturing screen graphics to use in your marketing and website a piece of cake, and the more hefty Camtasia, which is great for recording and editing screen videos, plus making videos of Powerpoint presentations.)Anyway, knowing the company it didn't take long for … (7 comments)

real estate marketing: Sometimes, Call When You Have Nothing to Say - 08/17/07 03:19 AM
So...  On Sunday, the other agent said you could expect the inspection response from his clients to arrive on Monday or Tuesday. Now it's Tuesday 3 pm, and so far nothing.Technically, they're still within the time frame they mentioned (and their legal deadline doesn't run out until Wednesday). On the other end, your own clients know that you might not get any response at all until all the way up until Wednesday and it would still be OK.So do you call your clients to check in anyway on Tuesday?(You know you're on top of things - maybe you've even left a voice mail for the other agent … (9 comments)

real estate marketing: Never Get Too Good To Be Interviewed - 07/16/07 02:06 AM
I was shocked last year to lose some buyers that I'd been working with in the 700K to 1 million price range. I referred them to a well-known agent who worked with many high end clients, and who was a "neighborhood expert" in their area of preference. I assumed it would be a perfect match. Wrong. It turned out to be a good lesson in how matching personalities is just as important as being a competent agent. These clients, a young couple, had taken the time to interview me carefully before we started working together. They had been told to find someone … (16 comments)

real estate marketing: How to Get Better Testimonials (And Actually Get Them In Your Hands!) - 06/21/07 10:31 AM
Did you know that testimonials are one of most under-used sales tools in real estate? The power of your current customers to sell your value to others is far greater than your own power to sell yourself. And unlike most forms of real estate advertising, testimonials are free! Unfortunately, most agents spend years generating happy clients without a written word to show for it. Others collect testimonials that lack power. Here are some tips on gettting testimonials that hit home with prospects.
1. Tell a Story with Specific Results Think of some "Client Success Stories" that you remember from other websites. … (14 comments)
