The term "everything that's old is suddenly new again" can be used to apply to today's real estate market.  Here in Charlotte's real estate market, we (like so many markets around the country) are suffering with too much inventory and not enough qualified buyers.  Based on February's sales figures, we have a 23 month supply of condos and 18 month supply of single family homes.  While sales are anticipated to increase, it will take many many months of selling far more inventory than we're able to list, and that's something I don't see happening any time soon.

The real estate industry has a pretty good way of coming up with solutions posed by market problems.  When conventional financing was unstable, lenders and agents utilized 3rd party non-profits sell homes to buyers will little for a downpayment.  Now with many of the rules changing once again, lease purchases are becoming a lot more trendy.
