The Go train will be operating in Barrie by the end of the fall of 2007*. Finally the residents of Barrie will have the choice of taking the train or driving to Toronto! It is certain that the Go Train will bring many excellent things to this city so we are surprised to see that some people still don't see the enormous advantages that this service will bring to Barrie.
 

Some facts about the Go Train for Barrie and their residents:  

• Many Barrie's residents jobs in Toronto and the GTA and have to drive for a long period of time to get to their places of work
• Commuters are also spending a lot of money in gas and their car's maintenance expenses
• The traffic jams between Barrie and Toronto are getting bigger and bigger
• When the weather conditions are bad, people prefer not to drive for safety and timely reasons but they don't have another choice
• One of the major pollutants is the automobile and it also contributes to the globe warming
• A 10-car Go Train carries the same number of people as 1400 air-polluting cars
• Go Train will also increase the number of Tourists coming to the city (how great would it be to take the train and come to the beach for a day or weekend in the summer? Wow!)
   

It is our experience that a number of young professionals and families are moving to Barrie due the affordability of Barrie's Housing Market and it is our opinion that the Go Train will increase this number. The effect of this will increase the offer and demand of Barrie's real estate, affecting our economy's growth, and bringing more development into this area.

More Go Train Facts:

• Currently Go Transit provides transit services from Barrie to Union Station in Toronto via the Bus to Bradford Station.
• The first train will depart approximately at 5.15 am and the last will arrive close to 8 pm.
• At the moment around 39,000 passengers arrive at Toronto's Union Station by Go train every day.

Today's Go Transit fares are:

• $10.80 for a single fare
• ·$98.25 for 10 rides
• $347 for a monthly pass
