BNI: My First Referral That Became A Client - 04/24/08 06:33 AM
Well, a seed I have sown has finally shown some financial life. 
BNI (Business Network International) is a referral based network organization. There are a couple of blogs about it in the Rain if you would like more information or Google it. Great concept. 
I joined in February and have received a few referrals, but Tuesday was my first client. And it wasn't an easy sale.

Buckle Your Seat Belts: Advertising and Credit - 04/21/08 11:18 PM
Just a little observation.
Most car insurance commercials talk about their rates and how a good driving record is rewarded. I must admit, I don't really hear them anymore. Except the Allstate guy. What a voice. But I heard something today that caught my attention. 
We don't check your credit.
It is well known in the industry that your credit is a factor in, well, everything. But it is not mentioned in 'polite' company. But this insurance company has found a marketing slogan that will garner them record calls.

No, I can't sing, but I can talk. I can talk alot. And my business passion is helping people purchase their first home or an investment property.
Today at 3pm, EST I will be On The Radio Whoa Oh Oh.

Most people usually think about their credit when they have to use it. Particularly when they are about to purchase a home. However, in today's climate, credit can be the difference between employment and unemployment. Particularly in certain fields.
Yesterday, Good Morning America commented that 200,000 banking jobs would be lost over the next year. I know for certain how this can affect those employees.
Case 1: My fellow BNI member is paying a debt she is disputing simply because as a VP she can't afford any derogatory items on her report.
