Maryland ICC - Construction to start - 04/23/07 07:19 PM
Maryland InterCounty Connector (ICC) - Western Stretch is to get underway.
Governor Martin O'Malley has announced the selection of the team to start the construction of the first section of the ICC.  "It's time to get to work," said the Governor.  The first section of the toll road to be completed is from I-370/Fredrick Ave (MD 355) to Georgia Avenue (MD97).  There will be an exit at I-370/shady Grove Road & the access road the Shady Grove Metro station.
The first efforts will be to replace several gas transmission line, starting in May of 2007 and scheduled to be done in fall 2007.

This year on Arbor Day (April 27), the Garden and Environmental Cub will be sponsoring the planning for a series of Crimson King Norway maples.  The choice of  the Crimson King Norway for this years planting was made after a search of the Leisure World grounds had determined that it was not yet part of the community landscape.. Care has been taken to select a Four acre site. A Crimson King Norway maple has a large dark ret-purplish five-pointed lead a year long.

Leisure World of Maryland - Spring Walk-a-thon scheduled.
This years Spring walk-a-thon has been scheduled for April 27, for the benefit of Mental Health.  This year's proceeds will be going to Threshold Services, a non-profit mental Health provider here in Montgomery.  The event will be kicked off at 8:00 AM and concludes with a continental breakfast after the 3.2 mile walk around Leisure World Blvd.  Maryland House of Delegates Del. Henry "Hank" Heller, a Leisure World resident, will be on hand for a few words of inspiration.
