I hope you had a nice Mother’s Day weekend, and to all the mother’s on the call, I hope it was a happy one! Cheers to the “moms” in my life…you’re all the best! On today’s call: Markets, Housing, Sellers and their buyers’ loans, Interest Rates The markets opened up relatively quiet compared to Friday’s huge day. There was an enormous bond sell-off a the end of the week, as the stock market rallied with Bernanke’s comments about the strength of the dollar and low inflation levels. As such, rates took a beating and (1 comments)
Good Afternoon,I hope you enjoyed the weekend and were able to get outside. I think it’s safe to say spring is here (about 2 months late)! The call will be short today as I’m pretty swamped right now. But that’s a good thing, so here we go....On today's call: Markets, Housing, Interest RatesThe markets opened up but stayed relatively even for most of the day after a huge gain on Friday. The unemployment numbers were impressive (although I still think they’re skewed) and the S&P increased its record setting level. Investors are still weighing any potential market corrections (0 comments)
Good afternoon…and sorry to all you loyal listeners for the delay…
I hope you enjoyed the first spring-like weekend in what seems like years. I don’t know about you, but the Stanley cup playoffs begins tomorrow and there isn’t a greater event in sports if you ask me. The intensity can’t be beat! On a more serious note…
On today’s call: Markets, Housing, Commercial financing, Interest Rates
The markets opened with a bang this morning, as the S&P 500 surpassed its record close set earlier this month. Italy’s new prime minister finally named his new cabinet (0 comments)
Good Afternoon,I hope you enjoyed the (almost spring-like) weekend. For my friends in Boston, I’m glad you’re all safe and that the ordeal is coming to a close. It was great to see the city come together and unite. On today's call: Markets, Housing, Short Sale / Foreclosure & Buying Again, Interest RatesThe markets are pretty neutral as we start off the weekas investors are weighing some so-so corporate earnings. Of the companies that have reported, over half of them missed their estimates. With recent declines, the S&P 500 as well as the Nasdaq are on pace for their first (0 comments)
Good Afternoon,I hope you had a nice weekend. We’ve gotten some warmer weather and some sun, now if we can combine them at the same time for more than one day, I’ll be happy. I got to see some old family friends from Australia and if anyone’s been there, please give me some travel tips…I need to start saving now!On today's call: Markets, Housing, "PMI", Interest RatesThe markets opened down quite a bit today thanks to weak manufacturing data as well as negative economic data from China, among other places. This overshadowed some positive earnings results from companies, including many (0 comments)
Good Afternoon,I hope you enjoyed the weekend. I’ve been on a little vacation, going to my “second” home in Lake Tahoe for a birthday celebration and then to Nashville, including a venture to the Bridgestone Arena for the Hawks/Predators game. There were so many Hawk fans it almost felt like the UC. Those ugly yellow Preds jerseys reminded me otherwise. On today's call: Markets, Housing, Home Improvements, Interest RatesThe markets opened down today, extending losses that continued from last week, as the bond markets have been increasingly sweeter for the mortgage world. Many analysts are seeing a weak outlook (0 comments)
Good Afternoon,I hope you enjoyed the first weekend of winter (I mean spring). First, a big thanks to all Of you for helping spread the The Mortgage Call around. On Friday, we added our 200th recipient to the list. Let’s keep sharing this! Second, and I don’t mean to soapbox, but if you’re at all interested in the food you eat, read up on HR Bill 933 section 735. This is an epic failure on the part of Congress and it will have long-lasting ramifications. Anyway... On today's call: Markets, Housing, Real Estate & Taxes part 3, Interest RatesThe (0 comments)
Good Afternoon,I hope you enjoyed the weekend and the holiday yesterday. I’m sure for some they’re still wishing today was an off day.On today's call: Markets, Housing, Real Estate & Taxes part 2, Interest RatesThe markets opened lower today but are back towards positive territory as they near session close. Last Friday saw a 10-day win streak for the Dow come to an end but it, along with the other indices, are trading off their lows. But news of out of the small country Cyprus, who laid out a plan to tax bank depositors in order to help fund the (0 comments)
Good Afternoon,It was a weird weekend with the time change…always seems to mess me up. I hope you had a good weekend and did not get messed up by it. Either way, I know I like the snow better than the rain, but at least it got a little warmer, right? On today's call: Markets, Housing, Real Estate & Taxes part 1, Interest RatesThe Dow extended its all-time high (set last week) but the rally has been slow to continue today as economic news from China was a letdown, adding to the fire that is brewing in Congress regarding the negotiations (0 comments)
Good Afternoon,I hope you enjoyed your weekend. I was a little under the weather, but nothing like another Hawk win to make me feel better! I saw some old friends and that’s always fun. Hopefully the storm that’s predicted doesn’t damper your week. On today's call: Markets, Housing, Discount Points, Interest RatesNot surprisingly, the markets opened lower today after the $85 billion in spending cuts took effect over the weekend. The markets haven’t really reacted in any significant way to these cuts but analysts are assuming that this will happen very soon, as talks between the parties seem to (0 comments)
Good Afternoon,I hope you had a good weekend. I happened to see Argo on Saturday and while it was an excellent film, I guess I was kind of surprised that it won best picture. I wasn’t surprised to see the Hawks win another one though! On today's call: Markets, Housing, Interest RatesThe markets opened lower today amid some troubling European news, namely the pending Italian senate elections, which will have a big influence on the financial situation over there, as Italy is the Euro’s 3rd largest economy. There are many highly anticipated reports due this week, including the Consumer Confidence index (0 comments)
I hope you enjoyed the long weekend. If you had to work yesterday, I’m sure all the President’s thank you. I left the auto show yesterday wondering if there was any car there that wasn’t overpriced. I still can’t think of one!
On today’s call: Markets, Housing, Home Equity Lines, Interest Rates
The markets are up today and the major indices are near five-year highs. Can you believe Google’s per share cost is now over $800? I should’ve been a tech geek… Uncertainty in Europe continues though and homebuilder confidence dropped (0 comments)
Good Afternoon,I hope you had a nice weekend. If every winter day could be like Saturday, I’d be a happy man. It reminded me of when I lived in Lake Tahoe…too long ago! I’m also happy that our Blackhawks are still undefeated in regulation…incredible. On today's call: Markets, Housing, Title Insurance, Interest RatesThe markets opened lower today after quite a streak since the new year. The S&P 500 ended higher last week for the sixth consecutive time and the Nasdaq closed at a 12-year high. interest rates: Interest rates are on the rise...better get moving! - 02/08/13 11:08 AM
Good afternoon... Bond markets are showing improvement today but have taken a real beating overall for the last couple weeks. Lots of positive economic signs are giving investors optimism, despite looming isssues such as the budget sequester, debt ceiling, and continued uncertainty in Europe. In housing, purchase business is really starting to pick up, as are home prices nationwide. I've personally started to see more contract activity, which hopefully will help prices rise too...we need it in Chicago, that's for sure. Have a great weekend...please contact me if you need anything.
Good Afternoon,I hope you had a great weekend. That was one of the most exciting Super Bowl’s in recent memory. Even with the power outage, Nielsen Ratings reported it as the highest rated event in their history. We are suckers for plot twists, right? On today's call: Markets, Housing, Second Homes, Interest RatesThe markets are down sharply today, with the Dow dropping almost 120 points so far. Renewed worries about the economic situation in Europe arose thanks to some skepticism of the political situations in Spain and Italy have tamed investors’ optimism. As a result, all key S&P 500 sectors are (0 comments)
interest rates: Yes...rates are rising...better hurry up! - 02/01/13 09:02 AM
The bond markets reacted favorably today to the unemployment level remaining relatively unchanged at 7.9% after today's job news. The Dow is close to it's highest level on record so investors are currently divided on the state of the economy apparently. If you know of someone looking to purchase or refinance a home, please pass this info along. I'd appreciate it. Happy Friday everyone...enjoy the weekend and don't eat too much on Super Bowl Sunday! Good Morning,I hope you had a nice weekend. I thought this one went pretty quickly. But it was relaxing, and the Blackhawks are off to their best start in franchise history. This makes me forget about this weird weather. On today's call: Markets, Housing, Housing Changes in '13, Interest RatesThe markets have cooled off today after a big week of rallies thanks to numerous companies beating their quarterly earnings projections. What’s keeping analysts skeptical is the impact of the U.S. budget sequester. In this case, that refers to $1.2 trillion worth of budget cuts that are due by March 1st, (0 comments)
Good Morning,I hope the long weekend was nice and relaxing. I’m just excited that hockey is finally back. If you’re a Hawks fan, you’ve got to be impressed at how the team started. If you’re not a Hawks fan, please no comments! On today's call: Markets, Housing, Rent vs. Own, Interest RatesIn the wake of the 2nd Inauguration for the President, the markets opened mixed for the most part. Last week saw the Dow and S&P 500 finish at five year highs, but this week started off with a disappointing existing home sales report. Now that the festivities are over, (0 comments)
I hope you had a good weekend and haven’t caught a cold with these crazy weather fluctuations. If you watched the Golden Globes last night, did you ever think Jodi Foster was going to stop talking? Well, on to more important things...On today's call: Markets, Housing, Second Homes, Interest RatesThe markets started the week off slightly mixed as investors are waiting for corporate earnings results from the fourth quarter.
