Have you seen the new construction in Highland Creek? For those in the area with middle school aged children it is a welcome addition.
The new Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) middle school in Highland Creek can be accessed either from the Highland Creek Parkway or Ridge Road.  According to CMS it will be a "prototype middle school" with 54 classrooms.   The overall budget for the new middle school is $22,600,000.00 million.

The Charlotte area new home construction fell during the first quarter, even more deeply than nationwide.  Specifically, in Meckenburg County, single family permits fell 62 percent in the first quarter.  The numbers for March alone were down 50 percent.  That was better than the drop of the two previous months, which could mean the downturn is bottoming out?  Perhaps there is hope that we've truly reached the bottom.

The good economic news continues!  It was announced today that the wholesale prices dropped 1.2% in March 2009.  This bodes well for holding off inflation.  So, although the recession continues  at least it is staving off inflation and helping the average citizen with lower prices.
Where did the reduced wholesale prices come from?
The biggest contributors to the lower wholesale prices in March were food and energy price reductions.  This helps every person because we all need food and warmth.  So, this is very good news indeed.
