Legenary Kirk Kerkorian has just cut the $25 million asking price of his 30–acre Beverly Hills mansion to a reasonable $18 million, after it has languished on the market for nearly a year. His lovely gated estate boasts a Mediterranean-styled main home, two guest cottages, two pools, two tennis courts, a putting green and lots of room for expansion. Gossip: It is a loaded word that alternately intrigues and informs, delights and dismays. Last week’s blog on real estate gossip, for example, raised the hackles of a few agents—and the interest (and some concurrence) of others. As for me, I’ve enjoyed the diversion and have paid much closer attention to the frequency with which it occurs in my own professional life as a San Diego real estate broker. Real estate gossip can be golden.... This isn't a reference to catty back-biting that might center on flings, blings or lifts. Rather, it is the very specific, professional and constructive whispering that goes on between real estate agents who trust one another. It is information savvy buyers crave--and not only in the San Diego real estate market. This unpublished information shared between professionals is often the information that creates a successful real estate transaction. We real estate bloggers aren't exactly seeking rock star fame, but most of us would be happy with slightly famous status. We want be bookmarked in real estate, so people in our target markets come to us with their real estate needs. We need to be able to reach the right audience, with the right message, at the right time. Most of us are honorable,referable and respected real estate professionals.
