sagamore hill: SAGAMORE HILL TO HOLD "FALL FAMILY FESTIVAL" IN COVE NECK, NY - 10/21/10 06:03 PM
 

 
On Saturday, Oct. 23rd, Sagamore Hill National Historic Site in Cove Neck, an incorporated village in the town of Oyster Bay, will host a traditional Fall Family Festival from 11 AM to 4 PM.  The festival will celebrate Sagamore Hill's agricultural history as well as Theodore Roosevelt's 152nd birthday!  Activities will include old-fashioned games and crafts for kids, farming skills demonstrations, exhibits, music, pony rides and an animal petting area, food vendors and more.

Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, the home of Theodore Roosevelt in Oyster Bay, will present special free programs and open to the public on July 4th and 5th to celebrate Independence Day 2010. These programs inclue music, arts and crafts, storytelling and horse and carriage demonstrations.  The National Park Service and the Friends of Sagamore Hill invite you to bring your family and friends, dressed in your best patriotic attire, to join the two days of festivities at Sagamore Hill on Sunday, July 4th and Monday July 5th.

Sale of homes in Oyster Bay Cove has gone down by 20% this year, from 25 homes sold in Oyster Bay Cove in 2007, down to 20 homes sold in Oyster Bay Cove in 2008.  Right now, there are 39 homes for sale in Oyster Bay Cove.  At the rate it is going, it looks like we have almost a two-year inventory assuming we do not get another listing which is improbable.  It is a good news for buyers who want to move in this area.  Prices range from $1,250,000 for a ranch style home to $4,600,000 for a colonial style homes.

For people who want privacy, look no further.  Oyster Bay Cove is the place to be.  The late Oleg Cassini had a big place in Oyster Bay Cove.  Oyster Bay Cove is so different from the Hamptons because you can  keep your privacy here.   We do not have the glitz and glamour of the Hamptons.  People don't gawk at celebrity here.   Most celebrity who settle here are down to earth people who want to lead a quiet life although they are very involved in the community.  They give a lot to the community through the various charities.

For lovers of animals, there is a new exhibit at Sagamore Hill in Oyster Bay Cove that just opened and will run till Jan. 2009.  Sagamore Hill in Oyster Bay Cove is a neighboring village of Oyster Bay, NY.  It was the summer White House during the Theodore Roosevelt presidency.  The photo exhibit is titled "White House Pets: Ambassadors at Large" sponsored by Friends of Sagamore Hill and the Sagamore Hill National Historic Site.  There are photos of animals at the White House from Thomas Jefferson era all the way to George W. Bush.

As we celebrate Presidents' Day today, I thought of writing something about the home of one of our famous presidents.  Sagamore Hill is the home of Teddy Roosevelt located in Cove Neck, just few miles from the village of Oyster Bay.  Sagamore is a title of the head of an Indian tribe.  I am proud to be living in the same town where Teddy Roosevelt, our 26th President called home from 1886 until his death on January 6, 1919.  He and his second wife raised six children in the house.  During his presidency from 1902 to 1908, Sagamore Hill was his … (0 comments)
