Who Do We Think We Are? My Rant! - 11/21/09 12:12 PM
It's that time of year when we as real estate people we think we have the right to tell our sellers what to do and not to do if they want to sell their home? First - the next 5-6 weeks usually bring fewer buyers (however those that do look during this time are usually serious). Most importantly, who do we think we are telling sellers not to express their religious beliefs, whatever they are, at this time or any time. I have a tradition of sending out a "Holiday Decorating and Selling Your Home" letter of 'do and don'ts' - there are

The Village of Pin Oak Farm - Moving Ahead with Phase II - Aiken SC The challenging Real Estate market has not slowed growth for The Village of Pin Oak Farm, a relatively new development and residential concept located off Silver Bluff Road in Aiken. There will be a new roof on the Tri-Development Center soon. Thanks to over 200 people that turned out, through Impact Aiken, to do the work today. Just another reason - if you're lucky enough to be in Aiken, you're lucky enough!

Home Purchase Tax Credit - revised - extended. Just needs presidential approval. - 11/06/09 08:42 AM
The much-anticipated extension to the home buyer tax credit has finally been approved. The Senate's vote yesterday resulted in a 98-0 win and today it was passed in the house. The bill now moves to the President's desk for a final signature. First-time home buyers have been eligible for tax credits of up to $8,000 since last January as part of this year's economic stimulus package. The newly backed program will expand the credit to include existing home owners. Under the revised program, those who have owned a home for at least five years will be able to apply for tax

JUST RETURNED FROM A BREAKFAST FROM ONE OF OUR STATE LEGISLATORS. ON HIS LIST OF PRIORITIES IN EARLY 2010 IS ADDRESSING THE POINT OF SALE ISSUE. WHEN QUESTIONED, HE FELT IT WOULD BE ADDRESSED EARLY 2010. ANOTHER BIG ISSUE FOR US IS STATE RESTUCTURING AND ALL TYPES OF TAX REFORM. BOTH AFFECT BUSINESS AND PERSONAL INTEREST IN MOVING TO OUR STATE. PLEASE KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR STATE LEG. AND SENATORS AND MAKE THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR DECISIONS. ONE MORE BIG ONE - OUR LEG. SC State Housing Urges House to Pass Home Buyer Tax CreditThe first-time home buyer tax credit extension has not only been popular nationwide, it has provided a much-needed shot in the arm for the housing industry - which traditionally is at the forefront of an economic recovery. But the credit is set to expire on November 30 unless Congress passes an extension. The Senate voted Wednesday, to extend the credit. The House could take this up as early as today. Valarie Williams, executive director of SC State Housing is urging the state's congressional delegation to support the extension to help first-time home buyers

The City of Aiken Farmers Market will celebrate old times. This weekend the Farmers Market will be selling the 'ol produce! High Schoolers will be selling mums and the Master Gardeners will be there. Come on down! Just another reason that AIken's a great place to be.
