If you missed local Fishtown students perform at their Winter Concert this past weekend for Rock to the Future, you're getting another chance to contribute to the future of music:
This Wednesday, December 22, Philadelphia-area bands will perform in support of the next generation of rockers at World Cafe Live. Sets from The New Motels, Big Terrible, The Josh and Pete Band and The Best Westerns (members of various Philadelphia bands who are performing as a “super group”). Tickets for this all-ages, general admission show are $10. Proceeds from this concert will go directly to Rock to the Future.

Getting your homework done is a little easier with the incentive of rocking out on a guitar after.
Earlier this year we mentioned Rock to the Future, an afterschool program that one of our clients, Jessica McKay, began to provide students the opportunity to learn a musical instrument while getting homework assistance. Now we're happy to report that the homework is getting done and the rocking out is not far behind.

Back in May, we wrote about Jessica McKay's music program for rock-ready youngsters, Rock to the Future. We wanted to let you know that Rock to the Future will be at the Fishtown First Friday on the Frankford Avenue Arts Corridor tomorrow, July 2, at 2001 Frankford Avenue. From 6 - 9 pm, applications will be distributed and if you have any questions about the program, McKay will have the answers. For more information about the free program, check out our post below.

We'd like to congratulate Jessica McKay for receiving a grant from Women for Social Innovation. McKay will open a free after-school music program in Fishtown at the Atonement Lutheran Church. The program, Rock to the Future, is for students from ages 9-14, and offers free instrumental instruction and homework tutoring after school. It will start in September and end in May.
