networking: Your Business Has A Master - 03/23/10 03:50 PM
Yeah, that's right.  Your business is a slave.  You may think your business is independent, but it's not.  It's reliant, dependent, yes...enslaved to any number of things.  I realized this during the TVPG Radio's Get More Business Show last week.  We had a cool little segment as a tie in to St. Patrick's day where we got to interview members of Sheila's networking group.  Because St. Patrick spent a significant amount of time as a slave during his youth, we wanted to ask those business owners [...Click To Read The Rest On TVPG Radio]

networking: Details of Last Week's St. Patrick's Day Networking Special on TVPG Radio's Get More Business Show - 03/23/10 10:18 AM
As posted by Sheila O'Mara on TVPG Radio:
This week on the TVPG, Get More Business, Radio Show, we celebrated St. Patrick's Day.  We tied most of the topics from the show to our theme of St. Patty's Day and I was on location at my local Networking for Women in the Heartland Luncheon at the Schmidt Coca-Cola Museum in Elizabethtown, KY.
As you may or may not know, St. Patrick was at one time a slave.  We asked local business owners from Elizabethtown what, if anything, they felt they were a slave to in their business.  I know for me … (0 comments)

networking: How To Wilt Your Inner Wallflower: Become The Host With The Most - 01/07/10 01:50 PM

Sometimes it’s because of a lack of preparation or experience.  But most of [...Click To Read The Rest On IdeaBox]

If you were to ask me who my ideal client is for The Value Pages Group, the lazy answer would be “Business Owners and People in Sales.” That’s what you call casting a very wide net.  Can you imagine how many business owners there are in America and how many people out there who earn [...Click To Read The Rest On IdeaBox]

networking: Are You The Airport Or The Infrequent Traveler? - 12/12/09 12:50 AM

I ask this question as a metaphor for business networking.  I find that people often take one of two approaches to networking.
1. They enthusiastically dive right in and start helping other people and setting up their network of referral partners.
2. They timidly stand back and evaluate what everyone else is doing to see if it’s [...Click Here To Read The Rest On IdeaBox]

networking: Are You A Born Networker? Four Observations: - 11/27/09 03:33 AM

Everyone’s answer to the title question should be “No”.  Sure there are introverts and extroverts and those that definitely make networking look easy.  But ask anyone who is good at something, be it a professional athlete or any kind of professional and you’ll always find out that a lot of work goes into making something [...Click To Read The Rest on IdeaBox]

networking: Twitter - Should You Protect Your Updates? - The Illusion Of Privacy - 04/28/09 09:08 AM
I find so many people have gone out and created accounts on social networking platforms, such as Twitter and others, and then they sit back wondering what to do with them.  A common concern that people have when getting started is how much information they are putting out there and how it could potentially damage their privacy.
If you're worried that someone could find out where you live or more personal information on the internet than what you're comfortable sharing, you should keep a couple of things in mind.
On the internet you have no privacy. There's probably already information about … (7 comments)
