The Voice: Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton Pay Tribute to Oklahoma
Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton
TRAE PATTON/NBC
I'm not a big fan of these "realty" shows, such as American Idol or The Voice, or the X Factor or America's Got Talent (I'm sure you get the point).
However, when flipping through the stations last night, and tired of watching endless amounts of "manly" shows, I stopped for some reason on NBC, when The Voice was on. I caught Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton's duet, and caught myself setting the remote down. The song they sang was "Over You," which according to some internet research, was co-written by the married couple about Shelton's brother who passed away at a young age in a car accident.
I'm not a big country music fan either, but these two had me completely mesmerized. It was a great tribute to the Oklahoma community who was so tragically struck by this huge tornado.
I included an article written by People Magazine about the performance below. If you didn't see it last night, you should find the video and watch. I guess I'm a Miranda Lambert/Blake Shelton/The Voice/Country Music fan now.

Oklahoma native Blake Shelton drew on the comfort of his wife Miranda Lambert on The Voice Tuesday night as the couple opened the results show with a touching duet tribute to those affected by Monday's devastating tornadoes

Shelton, 36, and Lambert, 29, delivered a touching and somber "Over You" as the show called its fans to donate to the Red Cross and its relief efforts for victim families and survivors of the deadly storm, which smashed into Moore, Okla., about 100 miles from the couple's home.

"I think "Over You" was the perfect song for this situation," Shelton said after the show. "The moment was right. I wish things could have been different. I wouldn't have thought about performing a song like that, but it seemed like the right thing to do."

Shelton said he is working with NBC on a concert to aid the storm victims and hope to come up with something fitting.

"Hopefully, it will be something big and will raise a lot of money, and obviously it will be televised. It will happen really quickly and, hopefully, I can call in some really big favors," Shelton said, pointing to his fellow coach, Usher

Shelton and Lambert co-wrote the touching tribute song, which honors Blake's brother who passed away as a teenager in a car accident in 1990.
