Something to Consider - 10/29/08 01:43 PM
With all the negativity in the market, it's helpful to get some perspective. I saw this wonderful video clip on another blog taken from the Conan show and thought it really gives you something to think about. We have a lot to be thankful for and need to always keep this in mind. The market will improve and our services are always in demand! Enjoy: (12 comments)
Home Staging featured in Chinese Daily - 10/21/08 10:10 AM
Home Staging and Showhomes was recently feautred in a Chinese Daily newspaper: This is a first for our company and the only Chinese story on home staging I've ever seen! Showhomes had a booth at the 2008 California Association of Realtors Expo last week in LA. A reporter stopped by and help an interview with our staff and snapped some photos which appeared in the newspaper. I can't interpret Chinese and my computer doesn't have the character set installed so we asked a friend to interpret. The gist of the story is that Home Staging and Showhomes takes 'Broken' homes and (2 comments)

Stagers Look Out! - 10/15/08 08:49 AM
I came across this post recently: STAGERS LOOK OUT THEY ARE COMING FOR YOU... LOCK YOUR DOORS. Eric, the author pointed out some really disturbing trends where theives are stealing homes of furniture from staged homes. This is not a new problem - staged homes and homes where people are moving out or in have traditionally been targets for theft. In Paradise Valley, our franchise owner returned from market to find an entire home of really expensive staging furniture stolen:
At Showhomes, we enourage our franchise owners to insure their inventory and this stager had (4 comments)
Newly Staged in Minneapolis - 10/15/08 08:36 AM
Cindy Montgomery, owner of Showhomes Minneapolis, emailed me these photos of a home they staged this week. I really like the bedrooms in this home. Using simple items carefully arranged, she made them come to life. Take a look and see what you think. I bet if you looked at this home to buy and then looked at a bunch of others, you would easily remember this home, which is one of the main goals of staging:
I really like the snowboard / skateboard room - that's a great theme look to pull off and not too (3 comments)
Staging offers edge for sellers Sunday, October 12, 2008 By KATHY JUMPER Real Estate Editor Angela Blankinchip took a vacant house that had been on the market for nine months and turned it into an attractive, furnished home that brought an offer three days later. The house sold for list price two weeks later, said Blankinchip, owner of the franchise Showhomes-Mobile/Baldwin County. Staging homes to help them sell has become a hot ticket for builders, real estate agents and their clients, especially in the current market slowdown. Homes staged by Showhomes in Mobile, AL Homeowners and Realtors are asking how (3 comments)
Newly Staged in Avon, OH - 10/11/08 09:00 AM
Showhomes has decades of experience staging large, higher end homes in many markets across the country and often Realtors think of Showhomes as the primary staging solution for higher priced homes. In reality, we do the entire range of real estate and here are some photos from a nicely staged $249k home in Avon, Oh outside Cleveland that Judy Pokorny and Matt Pokorny from Showhomes West Cleveland staged last week:
5552 Quail Run: $249,000
Great job and I bet this home sells quickly! Thomas Scott www.showhomes.com (4 comments)

Newly staged in Murrieta, CA - 10/01/08 01:21 PM
Kathy Steimle who works in Showhomes Riverside emailed me this photo of a $1.5 million dollar home in Murrieta, CA they staged this week with a live in Home Manager:
Before - this home has been on the market for almost a year and little to no traffic. Murrieta, like much of southern CA, is a foreclosure capital with tons of vacant bank-owned homes clogging up the market. Here is Kathy's after shot of the same room (taken from the other side):
Wow - what a transformation. Showhomes has been selling homes in Southern CA and hopefully, this (8 comments)
8 Steps to Help Preserve Your Neighborhood From Foreclosed Homes - 10/01/08 08:59 AM
Cindy Montgomery, our Franchise owner in Minneapolis emailed me this curious blog about painting grass green in CA to make the lawn look better. Wow - that's one I have not heard before. What do you think? Via Sacramento Real Estate and Luxury Homes, Assoc. Real Estate Broker,Gena Riede: Are there foreclosures in your neighborhood? Sacramento, CA has certainly had its fair share of real estate foreclosures. Some neighborhoods worse off than others. The steps to be a pro-active neighbor are not just for Sacramento neighborhoods but can be applied all over the country. Have homeowners moved out on your street? Are (1 comments)
Trade Show Tips - 10/01/08 08:48 AM
Trade Shows are a great marketing source - a trade show is one of the few marketing functions where you can get in front of a lot of potential customers in a short period of time. The Simmons market research firm survey said that 91% of people surveyed said trade shows were their favorite source for purcahsing information. Think about it - people come to a trade show to buy because they are interested in the topic. At Showhomes, we love trade shows and our franchisees have access to trade show boths and training on how to get good marketing results (6 comments)
Newly Staged in Portland - Sold in 3 Weeks! - 10/01/08 08:36 AM
Newly Staged in Portland - Sold in 3 Weeks! Edie Moll from Showhomes Portland, one of our newest Showhomes franchise locations, emailed these photos of a home they staged the first week of September. The comfortable home had been on the market for some time and like lots of new construction, was sitting vacant with little activity and no buyers. The home went under contract Monday and the offer was accepted yeserday! That's less than 30 days to sell! Way to go - the clean staging made all the difference! Here are some photos:
