green: Invest in Green - Green Publicly Traded Companies - 06/07/09 01:59 AM
I am a real estate investor because it is something that I understand, through and through.  But I have bought stocks in the past - twice.  The first time I did, I came to find out that I do NOT know enough about the stock market to make intelligent profitable transactions.  I lot a little bit of money, so it wasn't a disaster.
The second time I bought stocks was just a few weeks ago.  To be honest, I don't know much more about stock investing now than I did the first time I traded stocks!  So why did I buy … (3 comments)

green: Urban Air Trees - 06/07/09 01:27 AM
I have recently "discovered" Current TV - a modern, edgy, TV channel which is mostly comprised of short video clips found on the Internet.  But don't think that it's just viral videos of babies laughing (although that one was really cute) - instead it's budding filmmakers who are using their artform to explore interesting subjects not mainstream enough to make it to your morning or evening news.
As I was watching Current TV this morning, I watched a clip from Madrid, Spain.  There, they built these "air trees" in a generaly hot, dry part of Madrid.  These very urban looking structures … (5 comments)

green: Green Business Tip - Daily To Do List - 05/21/09 09:15 AM

With all of the open houses that I do, I end up with a lot of property flyers that become outdated when there is a price change, or the home gets sold.  I recycle my paper, but it still bothers me that the paper was wasted.
Recently, in an effort to become more organized, I created my own Daily To Do List form.  There is nothing special about it - it's just available for me to print whenever I need it.
But, it was bothering me that I would use my Daily To Do List, and then throw it away!  … (9 comments)

green: Free Ocean Friendly Gardening & Landscaping Workshop in Hermosa Beach - 05/17/09 11:01 AM
I ran into an old friend of mine from Surfrider today, and he told me all about a new campaign that the South Bay Chapter of Surfrider is working on - Ocean Friendly Gardens.  As a Realtor with the Green designation, I am excited to see this movement towards responsible gardening.
Gardening does not have to be a lot of work.  In fact, there are many things that you can do to have a SPECTACULAR looking garden or yard, with little work and maintenance.  I know - I speak from experience!
So find out what YOU can do to improve the … (0 comments)

green: Breaking News - Upcoming HUD Program to Assist with Green Retrofits - 04/17/09 05:23 AM
I am very excited about the upcoming Assisted Housing Stability and Energy and Green Retrofit Investments Stimulus program (phew, that's a mouthful), and I want to start by thanking Tiffany Humsfeld for pointing it out to me!  But I can't horde this information for myself, because for those of you who own homes already, you may finally have an opportunity to get financial help to upgrade your home to make it more energy efficient.
This is exciting because up until now, there were primarily programs for home buyers to get access to funds for energy efficient upgrades (by the way - … (1 comments)

green: Your Friendly, Neighborhood, GREEN Real Estate Point-of-Contact - 04/17/09 04:47 AM
I am VERY proud to announce that I have recently earned the GREEN designation from the National Association of Realtors (NAR), demonstrating my dedication to environmentally conscious matters that affect our planet.
Many of my clients, colleagues, and friends don't know this about me, but I grew up in a rural area.  Here, I was exposed to environmentally-friendly concepts and practices that were not a new trend, but that were a part of farm-life.  Composting, recycling, and energy conservation were just part of life - not a trendy Hollywood campaign.
I have also been active with the non-profit environmental group, Surfrider, and … (0 comments)
