It had to be done and, by golly, I finally did it!!! As I have posted before, I live in a tiny little town called Rolesville (just outside of Raleigh and Wake Forest). The subdivision I live in is: 
                                                            

That reads the Village at Rolesville.

Yet I repeatedly hear and see the Villages (all of a sudden plural) OF Rolesville. And it drives me INSANE!!!

Are there more important issues going on in the world, even in my life, yes. But this one had to be addressed when I saw it was incorrectly referred to as the Villages of Rolesville in the local paper, The Rolesville Buzz (which is a really awesome publication by the way!).

 

So I emailed the Publisher to let him know of the error. And to my pleasure, (and shock) he responded far more quickly than expected. (I mean, really, I thought there would still be some eye rolling going on...) He thanked me for the information and said they would use the accurate title in the future!

In an age where we often feel a little cynical and think our thoughts and comments don't matter, it's nice to know there are companies out there that still care about feedback. Even from the annoying OCD people like me!

Apparently I get rather entusiastic about my referrals. I've been asked by many, "So how much do you get out of it?". People are shocked when I explain to them that I am not given anything when they use someone I refer - such as the lender or attorney or whoever. It is ILLEGAL to accept anything!!!

But here's what I do get that you can't put a price on....I get the satisfaction of knowing my client is being well taken care of! And yes, I'm also excited to pass something along to someone I have worked with before and had a pleasant experience. I enjoy helping other people in their business also!

And if it happens to be a client I am in the middle of a transaction with... Ok, I am the first to admit, I am a control freak. There I said it! If you're using someone I recommend as your attorney, inspector, or mortgage broker, then I know that professional is going to be communicating with me every step of the way and there will be no gaps in communication. I know I won't have any problems reaching that person at any given time, although more than likely I won't even have to, as they will have already contacted me with any issues or concerns that comes up on their end.

Referrals are not about what I get...referrals are all about how my clients benefit and peace of mind!

HELP! I've fallen in to Social Media Land
and I can't get out!!!

 

 

 

 

I wake up and immediately hop on the computer and lose myself among FaceBook, Twitter, Active Rain, Postlets and now to learn Posterous. I get home from a long day of meetings and appointments and when I finally have an opportunity to catch up on those old dvr'd shows....I'm on the computer...finding out more things about Twitter - Twitter Listings! - reading a million blogs, Google Analytics and learning more and more and more and...ok, maybe you get the point.

I feel myself drowning in this new world, and while I LOVE what I have learned and am having fun learning more, I'm scared I may never surface again to the real world. I look at the clock and see that HOURS have passed. The laundry isn't done. The dishes aren't clean. Wait, what dishes? I think I forgot to even eat!

What's a Social Media Addict to do?!!!

Just went to my first RE Bar Camp and the first thought that comes to mind when trying to describe it is -
WOW!
This was such a rewarding experience! A fun way to network with others while learning a wealth of information on how to grow my internet presence and my business.

                                                        

 

Everything from Facebook, Twitter, Posterous, Blogging....again WOW! Which brings me to my only complaint...instead of having a one day camp, why is this not a whole weekend? There were about 25 different sessions to choose from. Now come on, how in the world were we supposed to decide??

Thanks to all the wonderful Thought Leaders who shared their experiences and helped engage us in the process so we could learn as much as possible in a short time frame.

If you find yourself in a position to attend a RE Bar Camp and are on the fence about going....GO! You won't regret it!

I always find it interesting how people claim Spring and Summer to be the busiest times of the year for real estate. I guess in other parts of the country, from a family perspective, it's easier to start looking in the Spring and move in the Summer when kids are out of school. But in the Triangle, we have so many year round schools, that just doesn't play a factor anymore.

It seems to me, THIS is the perfect time for buyers to be searching. Let's face it, homes look great in the Spring. The flowers are blooming. The trees are full. You look at a home and think "Wow, what great privacy and shading these beautiful trees provide." You move in and everything is great. Then comes Fall....Ohhh the colors on the trees are just beautiful!!

                                      

But then...the leaves start to fall....dun dun dun (that would be how I spell out my suspense music.) All of a sudden, the trees are bare. And, oh my, what IS that behind my house?!

Drive through a neighborhood all you want. Take a walk along the property. Sometimes you still just won't know until it's too late...

What better time to buy a home than now! :)

Here's the thing...I am a Realtor. And I LOVE what I do!! And while I don't think I have made the overstepping movement yet, I recently had to catch myself. I was at a yard sale and could not get over the house. Beautiful setting, with a fair amount of land, lots of mature trees....such character to the detail of the exterior of the home. Not only did I want to ask the owners if they were having a yard sale because they were thinking of moving, but I REALLY was dying to see the inside of the home. For those of you saying OMG, she didn't....don't worry. I did not ask to tour the home. But I really, really wanted to!!

Ok I finally found my little town. If, and only if, I click on Wake County, does Active Rain FINALLY list Rolesville as a Top City. They list Five Points, which isn't even actually a city but an AREA, but they don't list Rolesville???

Yeah, yeah...I know....we're a teeny tiny town and we aren't "inside the beltline." But that's one of the things that makes it so GREAT! Only in my great town of Rolesville can I: borrow the car shop manager's truck (Bill at Pete Smith - you rock!) so I can go to a closing while my car is being repaired; spend 15 minutes or so chatting away with people at the Food Lion about the real estate market; get my Mac N Cheese snacks reserved in the freezer at Sonic (it's been a year but still loving you for that Mitch!)...you get the idea.

Rolesville - you're a TOP city in my book! (Although I realize you're really a town and not a city. But hey, if Five Points gets to be listed as a city, we deserve it too!!)
