Just went to my first RE Bar Camp and the first thought that comes to mind when trying to describe it is -
WOW!
This was such a rewarding experience! A fun way to network with others while learning a wealth of information on how to grow my internet presence and my business.

Everything from Facebook, Twitter, Posterous, Blogging....again WOW! Which brings me to my only complaint...instead of having a one day camp, why is this not a whole weekend? There were about 25 different sessions to choose from. Now come on, how in the world were we supposed to decide??

Thanks to all the wonderful Thought Leaders who shared their experiences and helped engage us in the process so we could learn as much as possible in a short time frame.

If you find yourself in a position to attend a RE Bar Camp and are on the fence about going....GO! You won't regret it!

I always find it interesting how people claim Spring and Summer to be the busiest times of the year for real estate. I guess in other parts of the country, from a family perspective, it's easier to start looking in the Spring and move in the Summer when kids are out of school. But in the Triangle, we have so many year round schools, that just doesn't play a factor anymore.

It seems to me, THIS is the perfect time for buyers to be searching. Let's face it, homes look great in the Spring. The flowers are blooming. The trees are full. You look at a home and think "Wow, what great privacy and shading these beautiful trees provide." You move in and everything is great. Then comes Fall....Ohhh the colors on the trees are just beautiful!!

But then...the leaves start to fall....dun dun dun (that would be how I spell out my suspense music.) All of a sudden, the trees are bare. And, oh my, what IS that behind my house?!

Drive through a neighborhood all you want. Take a walk along the property. Sometimes you still just won't know until it's too late...

What better time to buy a home than now! :)

Here's the thing...I am a Realtor. And I LOVE what I do!! And while I don't think I have made the overstepping movement yet, I recently had to catch myself. I was at a yard sale and could not get over the house. Beautiful setting, with a fair amount of land, lots of mature trees....such character to the detail of the exterior of the home. Not only did I want to ask the owners if they were having a yard sale because they were thinking of moving, but I REALLY was dying to see the inside of the home. For those of you saying OMG, she didn't....don't worry. I did not ask to tour the home. But I really, really wanted to!!

Ok I finally found my little town. If, and only if, I click on Wake County, does Active Rain FINALLY list Rolesville as a Top City. They list Five Points, which isn't even actually a city but an AREA, but they don't list Rolesville???

Only in my great town of Rolesville can I: borrow the car shop manager's truck (Bill at Pete Smith - you rock!) so I can go to a closing while my car is being repaired; spend 15 minutes or so chatting away with people at the Food Lion about the real estate market; get my Mac N Cheese snacks reserved in the freezer at Sonic (it's been a year but still loving you for that Mitch!)...you get the idea.

Rolesville - you're a TOP city in my book! (Although I realize you're really a town and not a city. But hey, if Five Points gets to be listed as a city, we deserve it too!!)

I was once asked how Veteran agents feel about Rookie agents in their offices...are you willing to help them and offer advice? Or do you resent them and find them annoying? After I got over the shock of someone considering me a Vet...although in a business where most people quit before they hit their two year anniversary, I guess six years can be considered a Vet...I started to tell her my thoughts on it and then offered some suggestions.

Granted, while people aren't exactly clamoring to break in to real estate like they were a few years ago, I thought there still might be a determined few out there who are sincere about a career in real estate. And I decided to share my thoughts with those others also. So without further ado...if you expect a warm welcome in your new office, here's my list of Top Ten Things NOT to Say in Your New Real Estate Office & Business (Letterman Style):

10. I got laid off from IBM and since they gave me a severance package to live off for awhile, I figured I'd give this a shot

9. I wanted something I could do on the side here and there, you know, when I got bored.

8. I totally know how to decorate, so I can sell anyone's home.

7. If the house doesn't sell in a week, I'll just have an open house. That'll get rid of it easy enough!

6. I'm not really a people person but I love to look at homes. So I figured it would be fun.

5. It's quick and easy money.

4. I'm just going to sell the high end homes so I don't really have to work much. One or two sales a year will be fine.

3. Oh, this is just extra money for me.

2. I've bought a few homes myself, so I felt I already knew how to "do real estate."

And the #1 thing NOT to say if you expect any help from the Vets and want to be taken seriously....

For starters, with the opening of the Granite Falls Swim & Athletic Club, Rolesville is really on the map! Residents are coming from Raleigh, Wake Forest, Zebulon, Wendell, and Youngsville (just to name a few) to join this prestigous club that has it all: indoor and outdoor swimming pools, exercise facility, outdoor lazy river, and a Kid Zone that kids actually love to come to!

While Rolesville isn't lacking in great places to eat and shop, it still offers the familiarity of actually knowing the people when you walk in the door.
