The following news relase was received from our state Realtor association, updating it's members on the status of a New Jersey state bill that if passed will directly impact landlords and tenants. The question is still, how forceful it will be and in what form?...On February 14, 2008, the New Jersey Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee passed S164 - Bucco (R25), Gill (D34) with NJAR® amendments. The bill allows a municipality to impose upon landlords and/or tenants who have violated occupancy requirements an overcrowding fine.During the last legislative session, NJA® secured amendments excluding seasonal rental units from the bill, as well as (0 comments)
landlord: New Jersey "Truth in Renting" Guide Now Available Online

The ninth edition of the "Truth in Renting" guide is now available online for viewing and download (as a PDF file) through the Department of Community Affairs, Division of Codes and Standards (DCA/DCS) website. The guide, which is now obtainable at no cost, includes an outline of the various laws and responsibilities that apply to residential tenants and landlords in New Jersey. Landlords are responsible for disseminating the booklet to tenants upon entering into a lease. The DCA/DCS Bureau of Homeowner Protection's web page provides a Landlord-Tenant Information Service where, in addition to the "Truth in Renting" guide, landlords and tenants (0 comments)
