The past Sunday was the annual Arts, Music and Antiques Festival hosted by the Medford Village Historical Society. The recent New Jersey Pinelands forest fire (see related news article), that was accidentally ignited when a military jet dropped a flare on a dry section of the Pine Barrens during a training mission, makes one appreciate all of the fire fighting professionals that serve us day in and day in protection of us and our environment.At the height of the recent forest fire, more than 1,000 emergency responders, including more the 600 firefighters, used water, bulldozers, tanker trucks, Black Hawk military helicopters and even other fires to eventually contain and then control the fire.
