Just a Question...Is a 3% Deposit Really "An Industry Standard"? - 05/19/10 10:39 AM
This past weekend I presented a very strong offer on a property in my local market area. My buyer was applying for Conventional financing and putting a 20% down payment. We offered only a few thousand dollars less than the asking price and we made all of our terms favor the seller since my first time home buyers loved the property.
I was surprised when we received a counter offer asking for the deposit to be 3% of the sales price. We submitted a $5000 deposit which is very reasonable in my opinion for the low $400's sales price we were offering. There were also two … (11 comments)
