You Have to Spend Green to Go Green (Day 6) - 08/31/10 11:40 PM

I'm really quite impressed with ll the new, imaginative technologies that are popping up all over to help reduce energy consumption and pollution. When people first started talking about going green, like most of you ... I was skeptical. I couldn't fathom how during this economic slump, people would invest to benefit others.
Quite a bit of the invention is actually motivated by government programs and that's a good thing, so I think I'll write about that too in an upcoming post. It's interesting too that the government has to promote change ... but that makes sense as change isn't … (4 comments)

Edible (Green) Walls You Can Really Eat - 08/30/10 11:56 PM
This is simply too funny as I realized at 11:40pm that I hadn't written my daily "green" post so here it is (too busy blogging elsewhere). Fortunately in researching green roofs yesterday, I also found out folks are growing green walls and many of them are edible too.
Here is a green, edible wall created inside an office building in NYC using components from Green Living Technologies based in Rochester, NY. I especially like the New York Times quote of Green Living's chief executive George Irwin ... "Instead of bringing food to the city, we're bringing the whole farm." They realized … (1 comments)

Are There Really Green Roofs? You Simply Won't Believe Them (Day 4) - 08/29/10 09:44 PM
Someone commented earlier how brave I was to not only accept the challenge of blogging every day for 30 days, but to stick to one topic. At the time I thought I would simply explore all of the new and sometimes crazy "green phrases" that creative marketing folks are coming up with. Phrases like going green, green homes, living green, green building, green remodeling, green building materials, green design, green building products, energy star, recycled products, eco friendly products, green cleaning products and the list goes on.
What I'm learning, and I mean LEARNING, is that there is a lot more green … (8 comments)

Simple Green (Day 3) Cleaning Solutions - 08/28/10 02:07 PM
Think about your kitchen and all the "stuff" you've tucked away under the kitchen sink. Now you've got something messy to clean and you start digging for the right cleaning solution, if you even know what it should be?
In reality, there are 2 cleaning products you need most of the time and here are simple solutions to eliminate all those fancy bottles under the sink and forget about researching which brand is better. Even better, these solutions are far cheaper than anything you can buy.
Scouring power - use store-brand plain white vinegar and mix it 50/50, with water for … (3 comments)

Go Green Day 2: Life is Beautiful - 08/28/10 02:55 AM
Sometimes our hearts overtake us and we have to leave logic behind to deal with what matters at the moment. Tonight is one of these moments where the only thing I can think about is a great friend who died suddenly. This post is a tribute to Marc Lumer ... a wonderful husband, father, mentor, business man and passionate in all he did.
Green is Great
Let's All Celebrate
All Things Beautiful
Today and Forever
We only have a few precious moments to walk gently on this green earth.
Let us treasure each moment for all that we have.
Let us … (1 comments)

Go Green Day1: Renewable or Sustainable? - 08/26/10 12:00 PM
Exploring the Go Green Movement
What fun to join others on Active Rain in a 30 day challenge to blog each day, to improve our skills and learn more about how we can help others. I've been researching and writing about ... going green, so I decided it would be fun to see what happens when I blog about a single topic for 30 days.
Going Green
Renewable - are those resources that can be replenished using renewable processes. The process of growing corn is renewable because you can grow a crop, harvest it and grow another crop in the same … (2 comments)

People Time Is Not Internet Time - 08/25/10 07:06 PM
Communication still involves a human component that I'm often afraid is getting lost in our new technology world, especially by our kids. This article says it all ...
Via Gary Woltal - Assoc. Broker REALTOR® SFR Dallas Ft. Worth (Keller Williams Realty):
With all the super fast gee whiz toys around us today able to zip text, email, YouTubes, PDF contract files, and all sorts of images around the world at the push of a SEND key on a Smartphone we often forget that
