CLEBURNE, Texas (Reuters) - Small-town Texan realtor Rick Cumins is going to see a paycheck in April -- his first since December.
"I've got two pending closings in April, one for a property worth $55,000, the other for $68,000. They'll pay the rent," he told Reuters in his modest office in the town of Cleburne, about 20 miles south of Fort Worth.

Developers of the 31-story Phoenix West II in Orange Beach, touted as the state's largest condominium building, say weather and slow sales will delay completion by 18 months, and they have notified an estimated 140 clients who have already signed sales contracts.
The 358-unit, approximately $160 million complex was scheduled to open in July, but anticipated completion is now January 2011, according to Brett-Robinson based in Orange Beach.

The Alabama Legislature has enacted a new law (§40-18-86 Code of Alabama) that requires Buyers to withhold 3% of the purchase price or consideration paid for the sale or transfer of real estate by non-resident individuals and 4% for sales by nonresident corporations, partnerships, or unincorporated associations of the State of Alabama. THE ACT APPLIES TO THE SALE OF ALABAMA REAL PROPERTY BY A SELLER WHO IS A NONRESIDENT OF THE STATE OF ALABAMA.

BREWTON - A small-town pharmacist intrigued by the government's economic stimulus plan decided to launch his own version with $16,000 in $2 bills, and area stores have already felt the impact.
Danny Cottrell gave each of his full-time employees $700 and part-timers $300. He asked them to donate 15 percent to charity and spend the rest locally, particularly downtown, where store owners say that business has been lean.

Help is on the way for homeowners facing foreclosure, starting Wednesday.
The $75 billion federal Homeowner Affordability and Stability Plan is aimed at helping families restructure or refinance mortgages to avoid losing their homes. The plan also gives lenders incentives to modify mortgages for struggling homeowners, in turn reducing the foreclosure inventory.
