Short Sale? Foreclosure Looming? WHO CARES!!! - 01/29/08 09:00 PM
I've got a client who has put in an offer on a short sale property.  The property in question is listed by someone who is very knowledgeable and experienced in the inner workings of how a short sale navigates its way through the lenders in various positions--and is generally regarded around the RE community as a consummate professional with a healthy streak of "good guy" in him.
The two of us have been in close communication throughout this transaction and have a good working relationship, aided on my side by coaching from my mentor and trusted advisors.  So far, the offer has been … (5 comments)

Character/Success Ratio Hmm...NFL Proves It This Year...Hmm... - 01/28/08 10:41 PM
I just read something interesting about the Giants & the Patriots.  It seems that both teams had no players arrested during the year.  Only 3 other squads in the NFL can boast the same off-field lack of trouble.  Does good character lead itself to success in one's chosen field of endeavor?  While naysayers and quick-buck artists will point to doing "whatever it takes," I choose to believe that long-term success is predicated upon good character throughout the career.
For what it's worth:  I've put my 2 cents in!

HOA Sez: "A Horse Is A Horse, Of Course" - 01/14/08 09:34 PM

Your Browser is incompatible to view this image. Sorry!
The Skyline Bel Air Estates Community Association in Tucson, AZ voted 102-101 against allowing an amendment to its rules to allow an 11 year-old child to keep the pet he earned by working summer and after-school jobs within community bounds:  a 30-inch tall miniature horse.  Alex, whose mother is the Association President, paid the expense himself to have a special vote-by-mail ballot (several hundred dollars) on the issue, and spent time lobbying the residents by walking the neighborhood with Bailey, the "horse of a neutral color."
(Not Bailey)
Although the hearts of the community were not swayed enough to allow Alex and … (1 comments)

Funny Phone Call - 01/09/08 07:22 AM
Late last night just before I was going to turn out my light and go to bed...my phone rang.
Debating whether to answer or let it go to voicemail, I noticed a Colorado number on the ID.  It has been nearly 10 years since living there but occasionally get a greeting from an old friend so I answered.  It was an old boss of mine!  Excellent!  He had heard through the "Old Ski Bum Network" that I was in real estate and he had a suggestion for me:
"You should join this rain group on the web.  My agent told me that … (2 comments)

Tucson Short Filmmakers Competition At The Loft Cinema - 01/05/08 10:25 AM

Tucson's Loft Cinema is hosting a series of competitions for local filmmakers called "First Friday Shorts."  Incredible things have been brought about by the digital revolution:  one of them is opening up the art of filmmaking to the masses.  For better or for worse.  On the first Friday of each month, local artists screen their films of 15 minutes or less before an audience posing at judge and jury of their work.  At the 3-minute point during each film, a huge gong is illuminated and the audience can stay silent to allow the film to continue or stop it by yelling "Gong" … (0 comments)

Blogging DOES Get Noticed...In Places You Never Thought About! - 01/03/08 06:11 PM
Last night I wrote just a little blog entry here in AR about a large development project soon to come into being--this morning I got a call to comment about it from a commercial real estate news website.  The reporter said she had seen my blog and would I mind if she asked some questions...
It just goes to show you that blogging can pay off with some exposure, and that AR can help with that!(I did make sure that the reporter knew that commercial was not my field of expertise, though!)

Tucson Mayor Bob Walkup spoke about the project in his 2007 State of The City address, which at that time was for 8,000 acres.  He was quoted as saying that the project would bring "the highest-quality master planning and managed growth" … (0 comments)
