Though this notice if for one community in Austin, River Place on Lake Austin, it does pose the question of what will likely happen to not only cities, but states in the coming years to decades unless some major alternatives are designed.  We will make it through this drought.....but what will happen in 25 years when our city population doubles?  I don't have the answer, but it is pretty safe to say that our water source will be bone dry if we maintain our current system and another serious drought occurs.  It is a concern that we all have been ignoring … (5 comments)

After reading just too many complaints about commission rates....about clients negotiating commission rates.....about how to deal with negotiating commission rates, about negative comments about clients or prospects negotiating rates, I had to say something about it. It is absolutely OK for your clients to ask for commissions reductions.  Moreover, you should expect your client to ask for commission reductions. And a double "moreover", you should expect only people that do not like to negotiate not to negotiate commissions (that was a mouthful of double negatives).  SIDE NOTE: We are in a totally different world than we were in year's past.  Though … (40 comments)

There are times that we get so frustrated with ourselves that it is quite easy to get depressed, and we think less of ourselves.  If we are true to ourselves, this happens to everyone at some period during their life. Our area market saw a major down turn in 2000 as we were hit in Austin as others were hit over the past couple of years.  The Dot Com crises devastated Austin, as we were the major arena for the Dot Com market.  In 2000, I hit a bit over 12 million in sales by mid summer and struggled to get … (2 comments)

So what is the correlation of either the stock market or interest rates to your market?  Or is it both?  Or are you throwing darts at the wall for answers? Greed (or not cost effective thinking) may have cost me a sale on one of my listings this past week. Just found my LIFETIME PERSONAL & BUSINESS PLAN I did in 1982 with a major homebuilder.  What a great find! At 22 years old, I was not too excited about making a lifetime plan.....Heck, I was just out of college and planning the rest of my life was never brought up in college.
