So many people have so many different insurance questions and it seems as if most agents would rather just collect your money than spend any time helping you understand your policy. I've heard a lot of people say they spend more time on hold with their agent than getting any answers out of them and I know how frustrating that can be.
I myself am guilty of not reading my policy cover to cover (who isn't) only to find out later that certain things aren't covered, or have a higher deductible and felt like it was really my fault for not doing my due diligence. So what do you do when you have insurance questions that need to be answered, but don't really have the time to wait for your insurance agent?
Let me tell you about a new site I came across that has loads of information and answers to a lot of commonly asked insurance questions. It's called www.InsuranceXplained.com. The site is very easy to navigate and has a lot of information available on it for free. They are also coming out with a downloadable eBook that helps guide you through the most common insurance questions, and questions you should be asking your agent when you buy the policy itself. Here's the cool thing, the eBook only cost $9 and they are guaranteeing that you will either save the $9 on your next policy, or that you'll get better coverage for the same price! So you really can't lose on this deal. For such a minimal investment it's hard not to imagine that you'll end up ahead in the game. The guy behind the site has been in the insurance industry for over 25 years and has really put together a lot of information in a way that's easy to understand and digest.
Do yourself a favor and just visit the site, check out the Q&A's there. Just the free information available on the site is good stuff and should help answer some of those pesky insurance questions.
What can possibly be as frustrating as trying to get answers to your auto insurance questions from your insurance agent. It seems as if all they're really interested in is up selling you into a new policy for a greater premium, or even worse, to be able to charge you those dreaded broker fees!
Well, after spending years of dealing with one insurance broker after another I finally decided to get online and go digging for answers to my auto insurance questions. (I really don't know why it took me that long, but there you go).
After hitting a few sites that were sponsored by the giants in the insurance industry itself I came across a site that had quite a bit of free information and offered a downloadable eBook that guaranteed was worth the $9 it cost. The site itself is www.insurancexplained.com and they have done their homework on auto insurance questions. The eBook itself evidently is going to be ready in the next few days, so if you can download it now, come back and it should be good to go. The thing is though, the site itself has a lot of information that can be useful right away.
Take a look at the site and tell me what you think. I am especially interested if it answers any of your auto insurance questions.

OK, so you know you need a CRM, and you're asking yourself if you should choose a client side CRM or a web based CRM?
The answer here lies in what your business model is and how many people you work with (or that works for you). If you're a loan wolf agent, then a client side system can have it's benefits. It will allow you to add data when you're offline and you're not dependent on having an internet connection to work within your database. However, a web based CRM is really the way to go if you're looking at harnessing all the power a CRM can give you.
Web Based CRM Features
Works when you don't
A web based CRM will be working for you even when you aren't online. If you have webforms on your website a web based CRM can send out an autoresponder even if you are asleep.
Your data is more secure
Almost all web based CRM systems come with a robust security feature that keeps your data safe. Client side systems are dependent on whatever security you have on your laptop, and laptops are notoriously easy to steal and crack into.
You have availability from any internet connection
This way you don't have to be dependent on a machine, so if for instance the hard drive on your laptop crashes, all your data is safe and you can get a new laptop and go on as if nothing had ever happened.
New features become immediately available
With client side software you'll have to purchase the newest version and download it in order to get the newest features of the system. Most web based CRM systems use the .asp model, which allows you to get the newest features without having to pay out again for the next version.
I've talked to a lot of people looking for the best Real Estate CRM software package out there and let me tell you about one that I think will really knock your socks off!
Top Down Transparency - Never lose your leads again!
Property Management - Create your own data feed
Unlimited Webforms
Integrated Search Engine Friendly Websites that are Optimizable!
Many different template styles to choose from
You know you need the best tools in order to do the best job, Gary David Hall gave it 4 "Best in Class" ratings. Read his article here.
In short you can look around and see a lot of other systems out there that do some of what Masterdigm is doing, but none that incorporate everything into such a seamless, easy to use package. It really does deserve the title of the best Real Estate CRM Software.
To those of us that have been involved in a business networking group we know how important it is, but for those that have yet to get involved, let me give you a few benefits of being involved and what to look for in a business networking group that will give you what you're looking for (i.e. REFERRALS!).
A good business networking group carries with it a lot of benefits, not only do you get a chance to see what's going on out there in other industries, and getting a broader feel for what's happening in the market place, but you get the chance to see what's working for these other business people in their industry. If you think you've seen it all and know how to reach your potential clients the absolute best way, then this may not be as valuable to you, but I think all of us can admit that new ideas can be a breath of fresh air to a stagnating sales cycle. Being involved in a business networking group not only gives you a chance to see if other like minded business people can use you as a referral, but it also gives you a chance to see if they're doing something that you can use in your industry, after all, people are people.
One of the things you really want to look at is if the business networking group has face to face meetings that you can become involved in. Face to face meetings give you the chance to really interact with these other business people as opposed to just sending emails. We all know that really being able to interact with someone produces better results than any form of electronic discussions, so make sure that the business networking group that you join has this has a feature.
The face to face meetings should also include some speakers that will give you some information that is valuable to your business process. This gives your business networking group a topic for discussion that can really help you improve your sales cycle.
Everyone here knows they need to involve themselves in more business networking but not everyone is always sure how to go about getting started.
If at first you take the time to look into getting into a business networking group that has a lot of members that aren't in your industry vertical you'll not only have more fun, but you'll make better business networking connections. While having a business networking group inside your business vertical is good (thank you Active Rain!), it's really important to have one outside of it. After all, most of the business networking referrals you get will be from business networking contacts that do something different from you. You can get real good advice from network contacts inside your industry, but you probably won't get too many actual referrals, these you will get from your business networking contacts that you create with those that work in other industries, and if business referrals interest you, then you should be ready to refer business out as well, keep this in mind, people will refer to those that refer to them!
When you are attending a business networking event make sure that you are ready with a good 15 second introduction to you and your business that ends with a question back to the person you are talking to. Being engaging and allowing others to talk is the hallmark of a good business networking professional. Being shy at a business networking event will get you nowhere, so get out there and be ready to talk!
You might also want to be ready to explain what you've done for your existing clients to showcase your skills in your industry. This will give the people you are talking to a basis for referring business to you and will give them a sense of security that the clients they refer to you will be well taken care of.
In short the fundamentals of business networking are things you already know how to do:
A lot of people have been talking about business networking for years and how it can help your business, but how do you get started?
At this point we all know that business networking is imperative in our daily business lives, but very few people tell you how to get started making business networking work for you. It's one thing to say "just start talking to people" but unless you have something to say and an audience to say it to, you're really just talking to yourself.
So let me give you a few pointers about how to begin getting your business networking efforts working for you.
Look around and get involved in a business networking group.
There are many business networking groups out there, but they won't come to you, so get out there and look around. Ask your friends, co-workers, business partners, associates, clients, etc., which business networking group they're involved in and how they like it. You may have to spend a little time researching the group to make sure it will be the right one for you, but if you find a business networking group that you can work with, it will surely pay you dividends.
Attend some of the groups business networking functions.
Now online business networking can be very useful, but people really want to do business with someone that they've spoken with face to face, someone they've connected with personally. Going to a business networking event can really assist you with meeting people that might actually refer you business. Remember while you're there to try to have a little fun, people are naturally attracted to other people that are having a good time, it shows in your face and in your body language. Everyone will see these things before ever hearing the first word leave your mouth.
Do your homework and polish that "elevator speech".
Those first critical 15 seconds are the most important when meeting someone new. This is your chance to make that good first impression. Crafting a well rounded short message that at the end will turn the discussion to the person you're talking with will definitely pay off in any business networking environment. Every business person in the world wants to talk about their business successes and you will uncover many business opportunities this way.
Never forget that you're there to listen, not talk.
So many people believe that great sales people have the gift of gab, but the facts are that the greatest sales people in the world have the gift of knowing when to shut up and listen. Learn to hear what people are saying. You'll find yourself presented with all sorts of business opportunities if you spend more of your time listening at business networking events than talking.
The biggest thing I would say is that you have got to get yourself out there, talk to people (and remember to listen!!)
I know that you've heard a lot about professional business networking. You know that it's been helpful to a lot of other business professionals, but how can you make it work for you?
First of all it has a lot to do with the professional business networking group the you involve yourself in and with your commitment to the group. You won't get much out of a professional business networking group that doesn't have the right people involved in it and you'll never get much out of any group if you are not active in it. If you want to be successful with a professional business networking group you'll have to stay focused on the reason you are there and the reasons the other professional business people are there.
There are hundreds of professional business networking events going on nearly every day of the week, you just have to decide if the one you are looking at attending has the quality of business professionals you want to network with. The best way to discover if you are going to have some success with the group is to go to a face-to-face meeting so that you can sit down and chat with the other participants and see for yourself this professional business networking group is going to work out for you. You have to consider your time as an investment. While it's true you might end up wasting your time at some events, others may pay you big dividends. Really the only way you're going to find out which professional business networking group is going to end up helping your business is to attend, get some networking done and find out.
One thing to bear in mind, you can sit in a corner and expect anything to get done. Get in front of people, talk to them about what your clients are needing that you can't provide and see if anyone there has some solutions. To be successful in your efforts you must put forth some effort to begin with.
I will be blogging about professional website design, flash web design, eCommerce website design, lead generation, incubation and conversion as well as helpful tips on marketing concepts and strategies. These will be applicable whether you are a seasoned veteran, or brand new to the industry. If you have any questions about what you find here, feel free to leave a comment or send me an email.
