coaching: These are THE BEST OF TIMES! - 07/21/09 09:41 AM
Apparently, These are the BEST OF TIMES in Real Estate : )

From Seth Godin's Blog today:
"The best time to do great customer service is when a customer is upset.  The moment you earn your keep as a public speaker is when the room isn't just right or the plane is late or the projector doesn't work or the audience is tired or distracted... And everyone now knows that the best time to start a project is when the economy is lousy."

coaching: Social Media: Twitter, Facebook - Prospecting When You WANT To - 06/11/09 04:11 PM

A lot of what you see in social media sites seems silly and meaningless, and much of what is revealed on the personal level may seem far too personal and casual to EVER lead to business...
Or so many Realtors think.
But this is the heady stuff of that messy thing called R E L A T I O N S H I P
Any Realtor actually selling houses right now knows that a Pre-Existing R E L A T I O N S H I P trumps almost any other prospecting skill or ability a Realtor might have when it comes … (6 comments)

coaching: Recession Marketing Plan ? Don't Become an Invisible Agent ! - 04/27/09 08:33 AM
Recessions cause most businesses to pull back on advertising and marketing.
But this could be shooting yourself in the foot.
Textbook advice is to stay aggressive in the face of the cyclical market downturn.
It's the best way to position a business for future growth once the market turns.
So Remember:  Out of Sight is Out of Mind - and don't become an INVISIBLE AGENT.
And don't make your sellers homes INVISIBLE HOMES by scrimping on marketing.

coaching: Real Estate Marketing - Are You Purple Yet? - 04/22/09 08:35 AM
If you HOLD your BREATH until you TURN PURPLE, will you sell more real estate?
Probably not, but you never know...
Where am I going with this?  I am trying to help you make an extra $10,000 to $50,000 dollars in 2009.  Would that work for you?
What would 5 extra deals be worth?  Can you get that from better SEO, a solid Social Media Marketing Strategy, or a Lead Generating Web Site that worked better?
What does this have to do with BEING PURPLE?  Every great blog post needs a cool "lead in" or angle -  and this single blog post … (8 comments)

coaching: Focus To Magnify The Treasures In Your Life - 04/10/09 06:22 AM
What treasures will you grow today in the garden of your mind and life?
You already know the old saying, "A Man Reaps What He Sows". That sounds like a two step process.  But it's not quite that simple.
There is something that comes in between sowing and reaping. GROWING comes in between sowing and reaping.
During the GROWING stage, a seedling needs to be protected from harm, watered, and fertilized.
When you FOCUS YOUR ATTENTION on your GOALS, you water and fertilize the IDEAS that you have SOWED.
Sow a Though, Fertizize with Focus, Magnify the Power, Reap a Rich … (4 comments)

coaching: Do You Prospect the Internet? - 04/07/09 10:09 PM

Lisa nails it in her post below:  Like I have been saying in free coaching sessions all week;  Online Marketing in a WEB 2,0 World is NOT ABOUT REAL ESTATE.  It is about relationship.  Meet people.  Build your contact list.  Let them know what you do.

Via Lisa Udy Realtor Utah Real Estate Specialist (Logan Utah Real Estate Youngblood Real Estate LLC):
How many times have you gone to the local board meetings, whether it be your local school board or your local board of Realtors, and tried to prospect for potential clients? Do you go knock doors in your … (4 comments)

coaching: Real Estate Coaches - Not Wanted, Off With Their Heads! - 04/07/09 07:03 AM
Real Estate Coaches are taking a beating on other threads and other blogs... It makes me sad as I read it.
It's bad enough that Realtors take a beating in the court of public opinion.  Now Real Estate Coaches are suffering the same sort of beating in the court of professional opinion (of Realtors)?
Of course, I personally believe Realtors CREATE VALUE rather than prey on the public.
But I also know that some public sentiments are powerfully aligned against the Realtor profession:
"Realtors - you know how you feel about it when people accuse you of stealing their equity … (5 comments)

coaching: Web 2.0 - Social Networking - Don't Show Up Naked! - 04/03/09 07:41 AM
Web 2.0 - Social Networking -Online Marketing
Don't Show Up Naked!
Many "Social Networking Gurus" are trashing BRANDING right now, saying that agent visiblitiy online at social networking sites matters more than the brand under which they operate.
I agree in part, however.... As an Online Marketing Coach, I think there is a great danger in this line of thinking as well.
BASIC FUNDAMENTALS are and always have been:
The Agent needs to prospect & generate leads   Every marketing dollar spent needs to be tracked for ROI   Being VISIBLE will help you generate leads and meet prospects. … (10 comments)

coaching: Coaching: By Personality Type ? - 04/01/09 10:13 AM

KING, WARRIOR, MAGICIAN, LOVER are ways of being, from Jungian Psychology.
These refer to what he called "TYPES" or Archetypes.
UNDERSTAND YOUR TYPE, or the dynamics of how the TYPES RELATE and you can be more powerful, more effective in your work or personal life!
To Jung's list of TYPES, I add the following:  POWER COACH!
POWER COACHES HAVE KNOWLEDGE AND TECHNICAL EXPERTISE TO HELP YOU CREATE, ENGINEER, DESIGN THE LIFE or BUSINESS THAT YOU WANT : )
A POWER COACH is one who understands the types, has mastered coming from whichever type is useful at the moment (said another way, manifesting … (4 comments)

coaching: Millionaire Realtors - Making $1000 an hour? - 03/14/09 09:32 AM

It has been written: "Life Imitates Art"  Hmmm....
I wonder if Real Estate Imitates Art As Well - especially when it comes to agent compensation?
The public often thinks Realtors are overpaid.   The "Million Dollar Round Table" designations have contributed to this - as though all members are millionaires.  It's just not so - as the average Realtor makes less than $30,000 a year. But even Realtors have been know to wonder out loud about about the large financial rewards available to those who succeed in this career field.  Extraordinarily high incomes, well over 6 figures, are possible … (7 comments)

coaching: Real Estate Marketing - SHIFTING INTO NEW GEARS FASTER THAN YOU ARE? - 02/17/09 06:30 PM
There is a fundamental shift in real estate marketing going on, right now.
We coaches used to say, "IF YOU KEEP DOING WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN DOING - YOU WILL KEEP GETTING WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN GETTING."  The idea was to follow up with a question - HOW IS THAT WORKING FOR YOU?  WANNA MAKE A CHANGE?
Or, turned inside out, THE DEFINITION OF INSANITY:  CONTINUING TO DO WHAT YOU HAVE ALWAYS DONE - WHILE EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS...
Now it's turned on it's head.
I suggest that it is no longer reasonable to expect to keep getting what you have been … (3 comments)

coaching: Real Estate Agent Training ~ Realtor Seminars ~ Agent Coaching Programs - 02/02/09 04:57 PM
Many real estate agents have questions about the value of Realtor seminars and Realtor Coaching programs.  A Realtor asked me recently if I thought he should attend a Craig Proctor Seminar for $1300.
My answer might be useful to others, so here it is:
Short Answer:   There is a time and place to invest $1300 in a seminar (or $4000 a year in coaching).
Only you know if this is the time and place for you in your career : )
Longer Answer:    Every one of these time tested seminar programs probably works.   A seminar can help fire you up, give … (3 comments)

coaching: Toledo Area Realtors - Doing The IMPOSSIBLE ! - 01/27/09 11:27 AM
Several Toledo Area Realtors are having record years, in spite of economic trends and market cycles. It has been my good fortune to meet with several and discuss opportunities to grow their business more in 2009!
Defying the odds? Overcoming Challenges? Such tasks sound superhuman in many business circles, but these are just everyday parts of Real Estate!
One of my friends in the business shared with me - just this morning - about how IMPOSSIBLE his day would be... He hoped I would excuse him for short notes and late email responses because - he had to go do the … (2 comments)

coaching: CROSSING THE LINE ? - 10/21/08 06:24 AM
CROSSING THE LINE TO WIN THE DAY!
Realtors deserve a lot more credit than they get.  You have to cross a lot of lines in your work.
Do you know the lines I mean?  These lines I am asking about are the lines between mere work and real personal service.  You live in the seam between mere sanity and a wonderful obsession.  You suffer many who practice mere mediocrity while you yourself practice the art of perfection in your work.  Cross these lines, and you will come out the victor, win the day - no matter what the trend or market cycle.
YOU DESERVE A LOT OF CREDIT … (8 comments)

coaching: What's Better - Young n Mushy or Old n Crusty ? - 11/20/07 06:25 AM
Giving respect where due, since this post takes off on the thought of another....  Mike Farmer at www.Reliberation.com said - on another thread about "teaching..."
"real teachers who take young, mushy minds and teach them how to use them--       one helluva job, something I wouldn't dare try."
Well we agree about that.  It REALLY IS one helluva job.  But you know....  somebody's got to do it.  It is a noble calling and I respect those who engage it : )
For instance, many broker/owners are great with new agents, and they CLEARLY deserve the 50% splits or desk fees they collect during the mentoring process!  Sometimes the product is excellent - as when … (4 comments)

coaching: The Question of Credentials for Coaches? - 11/17/07 04:42 PM
The subject of credentials came up on another blog.
Shouldn't those claiming to be coaches offer credentials?
I completely agree that credentials are important.  The proof is in the pudding, as they say.  Or A man is known by his fruits.
Credentials tend to indicate ability or preparation to be frutiful.  These credentials can come by many forms, including experience, or formal certification.
Since several here seem to be questioning my credentials, making two direct challenges, I am happy to address both.
FIRST CHALLENGE:  Shouldn't you have first been a HUGE PRODUCER REALTOR in order to be a coach?
ANSWER:  Well, yes and no.  Yes you should be very … (2 comments)

coaching: Real Estate Realtor Coaching, SEO Coaching, Niche Marketing, Testimonials - 10/18/07 06:32 PM
I just finished a Real Estate Coaching Engagement on Web Site Design, eMarketing Makeover, SEO topics.
In recent weeks we spent about 8 hours together by phone and computer.
The result? Client reports he found himself on PAGE 1 at Google.....  Naturally he was thrilled : )
The Real Estate Coaching Client learned to focus on niches, focus on ideal client, make a web site that was outside the "TEMPLATE SITE" box while still using the power of the template site framework.  He learned to manage keywords, meta tages, alt img tags, and how to write keyword rich sentences.
But what does the Real … (3 comments)
