A few days ago, Neil Armstrong, the first man to ever step foot on the moon passed away. I was deeply saddened by his passing. Those of us living in Ohio, boast a certain pride for those in our state who broke the confines of Earth. We are home to the Wright brothers, to John Glenn…the first astronaut to circle the globe, and Neil Armstrong, who uttered those famous words, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” The Apollo 11 mission began on July 15, 1969…on my 20th birthday. My Self-Imposed Exile from God I don’t know about you, but from time to time, I feel pretty far away from God. I wish it weren’t so. I wish each day, I would wake up brimming with faith…but I don’t. During these periods, as hard as I try to focus my thoughts on good and righteous things…there seems to be this static in the airwaves between God and me. I have felt this way the past several months, and it is reflected in the lack of postings on my blog. I use this blog as my formal prayer to God. Looking (8 comments)

Heroes Among Us This past weekend was my wife’s family reunion. When it first began 20+ years ago, it was to celebrate the birthday of my wife’s grandmother…the matriarch of a large and ever-growing Italian family. At the time it all began, my wife’s mother and father were still alive…as were all of my mother-in-law’s siblings. Over the years, the vast majority have gone on to an even greater family reunion celebration in heaven. It is now my wife, my wife’s sister, and her cousins who have become the family elders.
