C.A.R Says: Undisclosed Short Sale Payments May Be Illegal Junior lenders demanding under the table, "secret", payoffs has become quite the rage of late in the short sale business. This has now become a very common issue for buyers who hope to purchase a home from an unfortunate homeowner who is hoping to sell their home on a short sale to stave off a foreclosure. Theoretically, under the new Obama approved Short Sale program, each of the "Junior" note holders is entitled to up to $3,000 from the holder of the first note in exchange for a release of their lien. There IS the possibility that after the Tax Incentive (welfare for Realtors and Buyers) ends in June, there may be more REOs than buyers. The Fed estimates that there are nearly: 4 Million homeowners in Pre-Foreclosure (30+ days late on payments -lost job-underemployed), Foreclosure (past 90 days late in California - Notice of Default delivered) or Foreclosed (Bank or Lender owned) with former owners renting or squatting back or even sitting vacant. When the Buyer Tax Credits expire what will happen to these properties? Unless one believes that the housing crisis has been solved and prices will continue back toward the 2007 levels (1 comments)

Actually, Tom Paxton wrote that song when I was in college in the late 60s to celebrate the "Cataclysmic Global Freezing" (Climate Change) of the upcoming 70s and 80s.
