What do I get for Realtor membership? As a Past-President of the Utah Association of Realtors, I'm asked frequently what we do for the average agent in return for their dues dollars. It may be something as small as free continuing education. It may be the commercials we all see on TV about using a Realtor. However, they may not see the value in these things. I usually don't go on rants about other Real Estate professionals... well except for REO agents, alarmist inspectors that also do repairs; unprepared Title officers...other than those folks. My issue today is one that is happening too often . We have a client that has purchased several investment properties over the last several years. He has great income and outstanding credit. He also has a "built in" loan officer. From the first deal we did with him (that crashed because his lender couldn't perform!) every purchase has been amazingly difficult. Balance is everything. I've heard it a million times, "you need balance in your life", usually in the context of stopping a behavior that's non-productive and moving to something that makes sense. So, what started this ramble? I went to a Tooele City Planning and Zoning meeting last night. Very light agenda. The only action item was an application for a business license by a small church that has been meeting in a vacant store on Main St. When they found that Tooele ordinance requires Churches to have a license, they immediately applied. It''s no secret that Stansbury Park is one of the great places to live here in Tooele County, or the world for that matter. Proximity to Salt Lake City, small town feel, it's awesome. However, I sometimes wonder about people. For several years, the residents of Stansbury Park have been clamoring to "incorporate" or become a city. Currently they are in the unincorporated part of Tooele County. The arguments for incorporation are many: population, as they are the second most populous entity in Tooele County.
