Spring is here...the track is open! It's a weekend I've been waiting for for six months, the first race weekend at Miller Motorsports Park. Despite what the weatherman (and my eyes) tell me, spring arrives tomorrow. The first semi door will open, the first race car will appear. I don't even care if it sees its shadow or not!

How can "drought reduction" be a bad thing in Tooele County? - 04/21/11 10:18 AM
Let's face it, I'm a "newbie". I've only been living in Tooele County since '94. So, as a wet Spring has progressed, and the news has come out that we have a mountain snow pack that's 145% of normal, I couldn't help but think that was a good thing. I mean, after all, we live in the driest County, in the second driest State in the Country. What could possibly go wrong?
Well, a County Commission meeting, last night's edition of the Tooele Transcript-Bulletin, and my wife's memory have convinced me that all may not be right with the world here … (2 comments)

Here in rural Tooele County, we consider ourselves to be very lucky, for a lot of reasons. It's safe to walk down the street. If your car breaks down, people will stop and help you. Nights are quiet, and the Grantsville "Old folks sociable" is still a very popular event. The local paper publishes twice a week, because there isn't enough material for a daily. Great place to live.

Berna and I took our third annual "Spring cleaning Road Trip" Sunday. To explain, on the first Sunday of each April, she and I get in the car and head out. No route, no destination. With our schedules, we often find it difficult to find an extended time where we can "Spring Clean" our lives. So, this day is a chance to get away from our phones, our business, even the kids, and brainstorm on all of the things we have going on. Sunday we covered over 600 miles, and parts of 12 Counties here in Utah.
